    Musings: 2018, A Year Of…E V E R Y T H I N G

Addio, 2018! I’m sure you assume the first thing I will say was wow what an awful year I’ve had. But you’re wrong! While some of the things that have happened felt awful, they were really blessings in disguises. Some, not all. But this year has also been filled with some of the BEST moments, memories, and adventures I’ve ever had. It has been a year of very polarizing emotions and events, but I’m leaving 2018 as a happier and healthier woman! Honesty – You chose to tell the truth, to be honest. It is a conscious decision. Whether it is a white lie or an omission, you make the…

Diary of a Non-Cook: The EASIEST Appetizer Ever

Well Christmas came and went like a whirlwind. And as per the usu, I was tasked with an appetizer for our big celebration. I really should ask for dessert, since I can never get there on time. But, it makes the suspense that much more exciting for everyone ūüėČ Happily, I was done with most of my Christmas stuff a week or so-ish before the big day. Little things here and there, but nothing like the last few years of stress and more stress. Easy and light, just how the holidays should be. But I didn’t really feel like making an extravagant appetizer, so I ran to Pinterest and found…

    Diary of a Non-Cook(ie) Party

Another December, another yearly tradition. I introduced you to our Cookie Party tradition in 2016, but Lil and I have been attending it for over two decades. It’s been going on for three to four decades, from what I’m told. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise that it happened again this year.¬† I wanted to make something, but the party landed on a very busy weekend. The night before, the Guidette and I hosted our holiday party. I knew we’d be up late and tired from all the shenannegins of throwing a party. To be fair, I didn’t do much, she did most of it. I was just there co-hosting,…

    Musings: My Claim to Fame

I’m like, kinda Insta-famous… Totally kidding. However, this day in age, when a brand reposts, or even comments on your social, it tends to mean something to some. Some people could give a rats ass about this stuff. I can appreciate that. Then you have those, like myself, who enjoy the sentiment from a brand. This could be becuase this is also my line of work. Or part narcassim, or part (social media) culture. Anywho, I staged a fun pizza pic after the madness of our December Girls Night had died down. There was a plethora of chaotic kid-ness going on and I patiently waited to take my staged photo…

    Musings: 30 Days of Italy

The perfect social diary of my time in Italy. Really, it was also my way of sharing my gratitude for my Italian travels. As if my posting while in Italy wasn’t enough, I decided to share a new Italy post per day for the entire month of November. Not even worried about¬†overgramming, cause I’m so thankful for the experience and trip. It was also a way for me to openly journal my thoughts about and during my trip. I had every intention of journaling every day I was there, but by the end of our busy days, the last thing I wanted to do was journal. Most nights I’d scroll…

Diary of a Non-Cook: Pastry-Wrapped Asparagus with Balsamic Dipping Sauce

Pastry puff makes my heart happy. Mostly because it is a warm and fluffy carb, but I’ve been wanting to make an appetizer with it forever. I’ve had multiple intentions to do so. I’ve even bought the frozen sheets and then threw them out months (if not a year) later. I’m better on being less wasteful, but still not the best at eating everything I buy. Anywho, my standard contribution to Thanksgiving was asked of me: an appetizer. To be fair, I kinda wanted to do dessert, but that is always fulfilled by another family. The pies from Apple Hill were calling my name and I wanted to attempt to…

    Musings: Traditions Evolve

I am very much a traditionalist. I love traditions. I use them as a way to honor those who have left us. But also, my type A enjoys the routine and normalcy of traditions. With a mixture of both desires, I am extremely happy living out traditions, especially during the Holidays. They definitely have evolved over the years, but they seem to be pretty consistent these days.¬†Traditions have a special way of keeping our favorite memories alive, but their permanence can be an illusion at times too. My point in writing this is because, after the breakup, I’ve had to take a whole different approach to traditions and also change.…

Musings: I Have a SECRET Instagram Account

No, NOT for creeping! I can do that with my regular account. HAHA! I created an account to share the raw and authentic, yet sometimes ugly, stuff on my mind in a very ANONYMOUS¬†way. A good friend mentioned they created an account specifically for one topic in their life. I was intrigued. VERY intrigued. I asked for the handle and it was shared with me. I loved the posts because¬†I’ve gone through a similar experience¬†and I appreciated the posts, captions, and responses by others. It was then that it dawned on me, this would be a helpful tool for me. My therapist has taught me to ask myself the hard…

Musings: My FIRST Best of Sacramento Party

I love my city! I’m pretty sure you know that by now, but just in case you didn’t…I had to say it AGAIN! We have a local publication, Sacramento Magazine, that has been around forever. Poppa Bear has been a subscriber forever. I always love paging through the magazine at their house or anywhere really. This magazine releases a Best of Sac list every year and then they host an event to showcase the winners, which raises money for a specific charity. Year after year, I’ve seen all the event photos and heard about the event. I was always too cheap to buy a ticket. And sadly, was never offered…

Musings: More Than Just the BOOs

But BOOs is also pretty awesome too! The distraction of international travel didn’t really leave much mental space for Halloween thoughts. I had less than two days + jetlag to get my act together and get into the ghouly¬†spirit. I anticipated not actually caring since the last four Halloweens were dedicated to someone else(s), but I actually felt like I should and kinda wanted to too. Work is ALL about Halloween. It seems to have stemmed from a previous CEO, but don’t quote me on that. People take it seriously around here. Emails more than a month prior go out about the decor and theme. And you thought I was…
