Cali Girl Does San Diego: Girls Long Weekend

Four days in sunny SD bliss!

Lil had to head down to SD for a wedding, so she asked if I wanted to make a fun weekend out of it. Uh, yeah, duh! Then I invited Monique too, so it became round two of our Disneyland trip in March for my birthday.

I crowdsourced FB for recommendations and everyone came in clutch. I saved all the reccos in my Yelp Stay Classy SD collection of places to visit, things to do, and places to eat!

I thought I’d share what and where we ate but also places we visited:

Snooze, An A.M. Eatery – breakfast pot pie and coffee
San Diego Zoo – all the animals and a cucumber vodka mojito
Poseidon on the Beach – HH wagyu beef sliders and a glass of Pino Noir
Crush Solana Beach – shared EVERYTHING – crush bruschetta appetizer, creamy mushroom risotto appetizer, tagliatelle bolognese, and the pan-seared breaded halibut
Claire’s Too – honey lavender latte with an add shot
Claire’s On Cedros – chilaquiles
Pacific Coast Grill – blackberry lemonade and bag-o-bonz’ appetizer
Daley Double Saloon – a mixed drink
Home & Away – mixed drinks and shots
El Pueblo Authentic Mexican Food – carne asada burrito with guac + rice
Claire’s Too – Iced coffee
Backyard Kitchen & Tap – burger and fries
Afters Ice Cream – a scoop of Vietnamese coffee ice cream
The Local Pacific Beach – mixed drinks and chips and dips
Oscars Mexican Seafood – fish taco by the beach
Extraordinary Desserts – coffee cake with raspberry crumble
Rookies Sports Bar – Philly cheesesteak with fries and mixed drinks
Bird Rock Coffee Roasters – soy latte w/ add shot & burrata & tomato toast
Ironside Fish & Oyster – blue crab pasta with a glass of Pinot Noir
Liberty Public Market – just wandered, but did buy a HH cookie
Better Buzz Coffee – honey latte w/ an add shot
Home & Away – wine, mixed drinks, and the HH grilled cheese

The Eats

The Do’s

After listing that all out, it seems like we did a lot. We DID, which is why I’m extremely poor, sleep-deprived, exhausted, and dehydrated. But I wouldn’t have changed the last four days for anything. The belly laughs and the last bit of summer glow were exactly what I needed.

And I made my high school dreams come true, by mobbin’ around town in a little bug. Lil was a trooper and took the back seat and climbed out of the two-door situation each and every stop. Also, I could NOT remember to put the darn key in the ignition, I’m too used to push-to-start! #FirstWorldProblems

And because it is probably only funny to us, but my sister LOVES sharing a bed with me soooo much she created her own ‘great wall!’

Del Mar is beautiful, but the fun is more near the Gaslamp/downtown area. We were at the mercy of where the wedding was happening, but it let us explore all over the San Diego area. Pacific Beach to Del Mar beach, we dipped our toes in it all.

Excuse me while I go hibernate and give my liver a rest…
