    I’ve M O V E D!

    …to a BIGGER (not really) && (but a) BETTER place! I put on my big girl chonies AND made the move. Peace out, Blogger. Hello, Word Press. Hello, hosting. Hello, owning my domain. Hello, faux blogger life. Updated, 2.0 version! Yes, I finally decided to make the scary jump and own my domain, which was thankfully not taken. I also decided to host it for a variety of reasons, but mostly because I think Blogger won’t be around for too much longer. So I made the jump to Word Press. I wanted flexibility with whatever I decided to do next with Musings of A Girly Tomboy if anything. So, please pardon me while…

    Musings: Midtown Strong-ish

    Slow and steady wins the race… Okay, so there’s no real race. There hasn’t really been any this year, but that’s really beside the point of this post. I’m just using that cliched saying about how I’m approaching my workouts, especially lifting. A few months ago, I wrote the post It Doesn’t Have to Be That Way, which just highlighted that I don’t have to be all or nothing. With a knee that isn’t fully functioning, you can’t really expect to be doing things that a regular knee could do. It’d be just a little over a year since I randomly hurt my knee during my last soccer game of the 2016 season.…

    Diary of a Non-Cook: Zucchini Bread

    Well, it really should be Diary of a Non-BAKER! You wouldn’t think veggies in bread would be ideal, right?!? Oh, but sooo wrong! Zucchini bread is my fave. Well, HUGE caveat, it must have zero, zip, zilch walnuts in it, on top of it, or anywhere near it! Those weird, brain looking, kinda soft nuts are not my thing. At. All. Okay, that’s a slight exaggeration, but I do not prefer them. Ever. Finding zucchini bread sans walnuts is akin to finding the holy grail. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it is an amazing day. I can’t even lie, I’ve been known to be very non-lady like…

    Race Recap: The Giant Race 10k

    The Giants may be having an AWFUL year, but their racing series is NOT! Ahh, to be so happy to run and support your team who is having the worst season (possibly) ever is humbling! Regardless of their current league standing, thousands flocked to San Francisco this weekend to show their support. Putting one foot in front of another for 3.1 miles, 6.2 miles, or 13.1 miles, we showed our spirit and love for our FAVORITE team! Lil and I committed to being Triple Baggers this year, which means we ran the Rivercats 5k, San Jose Giants 5 miler, and we finished it with the SF Giant Race 10k. These…

    Musings: Wide Open Walls 2017 – Sacramento, CA

    Sophomore year for Sactown! Last year Krystle and I biked around and checked out the Sacramento Mural Festival that popped up. This year they vamped it up, renamed it, and marketed it like Sacramento knows how to do! Wide Open Walls 2017! About the event, straight from the website: “The Wide Open Walls mural festival is taking place from August 10th through the 20th, 2017. It will bring over 40 artists – local, national and international – to the Sacramento area. This year’s event adds to the region’s already venerable history of mural painting – which has produced over 600 murals over the last 40 years.”   Jamee, whom you…

    Q&A Style w/ Jamee: Social Media + SO's,

    Social media lunch dates really make me smile! As I was enjoying my Matcha Lemonade and Bacon Melt with Jamee, I steered our conversation to the topic of Significant Others (SO, from here on out) and social media. I was saying (re: complaining) how after 3.5 years J has finally hit his limit with US-ies or pics in general, even being the #InstagramHusband is completely an annoyance too. I also mentioned how he doesn’t understand or really empathize with how much I enjoy SM, among other various things related to SM. To which she, “So does my Husband.” I was surprised for some reason because via SM he is super…

    3 Day Sabbatical

    Better late than never, right… I’m already finishing the third week of my new job. Surprise! I got a new job. I wanted to do a post about leaving my job at the Nut House and how I was excited to start something new. But then I figured I better wait until I actually start the new job before I blog about it. Then, the next thing you know, my first week was done and it was a crazy, busy and here we are NOW! Three weeks in and excited…and being challenged in a great way. It’s not like you walk around talking about looking for a new job. But those that I vent to…

    Musings: Smiply Crafting

    Crafting done simply.   Pinterest, my disdain still lingers, even though I continue to use it regularly. However, I think that with the ever fanatic use of the app/tool, people forget to come back to reality and remember most of us have full-time jobs, kids, commitments…A LIFE! Pinterest crafting takes way too much time and money to really do it correctly…thus, simply crafting done MY own way!!Pinterest seems to put an emphasis on taking the simplicity of creativity out of the picture. Everything needs to be curated to the nth degree. For those that don’t give any F’s, kudos to you. It’s hard not too, human nature doesn’t make it…

    Musings: Pitchers && Catchers A N D FanFest

    Blogger FAIL, this was supposed to be posted yesterday // 2.13.17… Everyone is excited about GALentines, but it’s all about PITCHERS & CATCHERS reporting TODAY! via sfgiants.com I’m all about celebrating women, which is today….BUT…I can’t hide my excitement for Baseball season! Fan Fest for my beloved SF Giants was this weekend, which only heightened my excitement level. As we came down from the high of seeing our favorite humans and being in our home away from home, we didn’t have to let our low get too low. Because only two short days later is today, when our pitchers and catchers report to Arizona for Spring Training. Now, we all…

    Gung Hay Fat Choy!

    Cheers to the beginning of another Lunar New Year! This half-Chinese gal loves that I get to celebrate this new year along with the calendar new year. We don’t do anything too celebratory, but I enjoy that it’s part of my heritage! Here’s a look back at the last few Chinese New Year’s here at Musings of a Girly Tomboy — 2014, 2015, 2016. via the Interwebs 2017 is the year of the Fire Rooster!
