    Musings: Nourish

A full day of wellness you say… Sure, sign me up. Thanks to Erica, of Fit Crawl, I was gifted a ticket for myself and Ambriss to attend the inaugural Nourish wellness event in Sacramento, CA. Two women, Amber Rosen & Sarah Stebbins, created Nourish to ‘…empower you with the knowledge and tools to support your wellbeing on a consistent, daily basis.’ From what I remember from the event, they met less than a year ago, where the idea for Nourish was started. Since then, they’ve developed a wellness brand that is based on the elements of her: body soul wealth community You already know I’m a little snarky, even…

    Musings: Expectations

Everyone has them, but not everyone lives up to them. Scrolling through IG stories, I came across a story that put one of life’s biggest lessons so simple: Stop expecting YOU from people. When I read that, I was like, “THIS is what I’ve been trying to articulate for forever!” This is one of my biggest lessons I’ve learned in my 30’s. It’s taken that long for me to realize this and I am trying not to judge myself for this, but I’m just grateful I know it now. It doesn’t make it any easier when I feel let down. But it is teaching me to release expectations. Or at…

Musings: It’s Just the World Cup

Yes, I left out ‘Women’s’ on purpose. Just like I overheard this random dude say, “Why do they even call it the Women’s World Cup? It should just be the World Cup. Women are playing, but it’s still a World Cup.” At that moment, I almost wanted to hug, high-five, and kiss him all at once. I mean, I didn’t…but to hear a random man say that was so refreshing. Sadly, many of my male friends seem to think it is okay to degrade women’s sports. I know, I need better male friends. And of course, it pisses me off! I will forever and ever loudly support women’s sports, women’s…

Musings: You’ve Been Blessed with a Broken Heart

But is it really a blessing?!? I’m sure that’s what some will think when they read the title of this post. And about 85% of the time I’m sure I would have said the same thing. But today, I’ve learned it has been the biggest blessing I could have ever NOT asked for! Netflix has really been coming through with some good entertainment recently. As I was looking for something new and light to watch, I saw “Someone Great” was recommended. It looked like it hit the marks for new and light, so I watched it. It’s essentially a quick rom-com about a woman who was recently dumped by her…

Race Recap(ish): The Big Run, 5k – Global Running Day 2019

I don’t run, but I do ‘The BIG Run!’ The girl can stop running, but you can’t take the running out of the girl. For longer than I can remember, running has been a part of my life. These days, it is less and less, which I’m completely okay with. I recently noticed that my dedication to running really just transferred to my Midtown time. Not sure why, but this day is just something I enjoy supporting and being a part of, even though I have no desire to log miles daily. I enjoy running about once every other month, then I do it, then I don’t enjoy it. HAHA!…

Musings: Adults DO Get HFM Disease

Don’t let the dumb Internet tell you otherwise. With a quick Interwebs search of Hand Foot Mouth Disease (HFMD), you’d think it is RARE that adults get this. LIES! All freakin’ lies. I’m here to tell you about the ugly side of it all! I honestly wish the Internet would update their verbiage and say that plenty of adults get it, but more tend to carry the disease without symptoms. There are so many more people in this world suffering from much worse things than HFMD. I get that. BUT, this shit is the worst. I don’t wish this on anyone. It is the most uncomfortable thing I’ve experienced in…

    Musings: Family by L O V E

In life, there are people we choose as our family. And then there are the humans who are technically family. I’ve never questioned or wondered about who was my family by blood. Most of them have been around my entire life. Some not always, but I’ve been lucky that almost all of them have been. I’ve seen weird tensions arise and I’ve seen strong sibling relationships. Our family isn’t perfect but for the most part, it’s strong and thriving. However, I’ve also been lucky enough to have two amazing parents who have brought more family into our lives. They have encircled us with more strong and loving adults, who we…

    Cali Girl Does New York

Work was calling, so I went. I have always wanted to go to New York. The glitz, the glam, the “City that Never Sleeps.” Let’s not forget about my beloved SATC too, even though Girls Gotta Eat has me rethinking my love for those ladies! Every year there are two large tradeshows for my new(ish) industry, one on the east coast and one on the west coast. Last year I was too new to venture out East, but this year I was for sure going. So I went. I knew my adventure time was limited and I tried to remind myself that I should be grateful for any time in…

Musings: 5 Tips To Boudoir Like a Boss Babe

Okay, I’m not a pro… …BUT I do have some tips I would have liked to hear before I went into my session. Although Olin + Co. does a great job prepping us, I think these tips would have helped me. Before I even share my tips, I do hope you have chosen a photographer that you feel comfortable with. I even suggest you an email, call, or chat with the photographer beforehand, especially if you have any reservations. With Olin, I didn’t really need too, because I’ve been following her social for so long. I also knew she knew some intimate details from the survey I completed. I trusted…

    Musings: ENFP

I’m going to start using Myers-Briggs to vet potential dates! I haven’t heard four letters thrown around so freely until I started at my current employer. I’ve taken the test a handful of times, on my own accord. But I’ve never had my employer be such a huge advocate for Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). They encourage us to find ours, then they go deeper and teach you to communicate and learn from other types. I enjoy professional development, probably more than most. I was really excited to sign up for this course and to solidify which four letters would be assigned to me. Little did I know, they aren’t assigned…
