    Musings: Home Sweet Casa

Mi casa es tu casa. Well, kinda. There just isn’t much room for you to sit. Unless you’re okay with hanging out like kids. And by that, I mean sitting on my bed! HAHA Earlier this year I started looking for a new place. My time with the Guidette was transformative, to say the least, but it was time to find somewhere new to live. I fell in love with the first place I saw. I know, I know — don’t settle for the first thing you see (or date for that matter HAHA). I saw one more studio and I was still smitten with the original one I saw.…

    Musings: Family by L O V E

In life, there are people we choose as our family. And then there are the humans who are technically family. I’ve never questioned or wondered about who was my family by blood. Most of them have been around my entire life. Some not always, but I’ve been lucky that almost all of them have been. I’ve seen weird tensions arise and I’ve seen strong sibling relationships. Our family isn’t perfect but for the most part, it’s strong and thriving. However, I’ve also been lucky enough to have two amazing parents who have brought more family into our lives. They have encircled us with more strong and loving adults, who we…

Diary of a Non-Cook: Bacon Wrapped Dates

It’s all in the name… Although the name literally tells you exactly what to do, I was still interested to see how a Book Club (BC) friend made these. I’ve had them before, but at the BC I hosted, Lynsi brought these and I’m pretty sure I ate about ten of them. She mentioned she brought them because they were Whole 30 approved. I didn’t really care about that, I just loved how delicious they were. Bacon around anything is pretty damn delicious. So, when I was assigned an appetizer for Easter, I knew I wanted to make these. I say ‘make’ very loosely, because it is more like curating…

Musings: We All Scream for (the SF Museum of ) ICE CREAM

I paid $45 for 250 photos. Seriously, if you want colorful social media images OR you are a child, this place is probably for you. Anything else, you might want to go to a different “museum.” mu·se·um (noun) – a building in which objects of historical, scientific, artistic, or cultural interest are stored and exhibited. google.com I heard a statistic that the Museum of Ice Cream was the most socially shared museum ever. Don’t quote me on that, but it struck me as odd. Then as I was discussing this stat with a good friend I remembered, from Italy, that all the larger, foreign historic museums don’t allow you to…

    Musings: My First Disneyland Birthday

It only took me 36 years… Thanks, parentals 😉 HAHA, JK, I’m totally kidding. I am so beyond blessed and spoiled by my parents, this is TOTALLY a joke! But, now I know why we generally didn’t go to Disneyland for my birthday. March in Anaheim is sketchy. Like, are you going to dump buckets or are you going to be warm and sunny? The week before we left I was looking at the weather app each day, possibly multiple times a day. All I kept seeing was the rain emoji for Sunday and cloudy for Monday. Nothing I could do about it, except for plan my outfits accordingly. Months…

    Musings: I Love Love

I truly do. There is nothing more this soccer playing, weight lifting, race running Girly Tomboy loves, than LOVE. Despite my Girly Tomboy exterior/persona, I am a true romantic a heart. I absolutely love everything about being in love, seeing love shared between others, and those cheesy Hallmark movies! Is it overcommercialized? Hell yeah. Do I care? No! Why not take the time to tell those in your life you love them, one extra day out of the year? If it comes in the form of a present, food, or a card — you get to decide. Celebrate it or not, I’m just here enjoying sharing my love a little…

Diary of a Non-Cook: The EASIEST Appetizer Ever

Well Christmas came and went like a whirlwind. And as per the usu, I was tasked with an appetizer for our big celebration. I really should ask for dessert, since I can never get there on time. But, it makes the suspense that much more exciting for everyone 😉 Happily, I was done with most of my Christmas stuff a week or so-ish before the big day. Little things here and there, but nothing like the last few years of stress and more stress. Easy and light, just how the holidays should be. But I didn’t really feel like making an extravagant appetizer, so I ran to Pinterest and found…

    Musings: 30 Days of Italy

The perfect social diary of my time in Italy. Really, it was also my way of sharing my gratitude for my Italian travels. As if my posting while in Italy wasn’t enough, I decided to share a new Italy post per day for the entire month of November. Not even worried about overgramming, cause I’m so thankful for the experience and trip. It was also a way for me to openly journal my thoughts about and during my trip. I had every intention of journaling every day I was there, but by the end of our busy days, the last thing I wanted to do was journal. Most nights I’d scroll…

Diary of a Non-Cook: Pastry-Wrapped Asparagus with Balsamic Dipping Sauce

Pastry puff makes my heart happy. Mostly because it is a warm and fluffy carb, but I’ve been wanting to make an appetizer with it forever. I’ve had multiple intentions to do so. I’ve even bought the frozen sheets and then threw them out months (if not a year) later. I’m better on being less wasteful, but still not the best at eating everything I buy. Anywho, my standard contribution to Thanksgiving was asked of me: an appetizer. To be fair, I kinda wanted to do dessert, but that is always fulfilled by another family. The pies from Apple Hill were calling my name and I wanted to attempt to…

    Musings: Travel Anxiety

Do you have travel anxiety? I didn’t know this was a thing. One day, Juan (I believe this is who told me about this) brought up my packing style. I’m second guessing if this is whom I actually had the convo with, but the message has stuck with me, whoever it was with. The gist was when you pack a ton of stuff (or overpacking), you essentially have travel anxiety. When I first heard this it kinda made sense. I always overpack for every trip. I make up scenarios and needs for items that will not or never exist. I usually only use about 2/3 of what I bring, but I…
