Diary of a Non-Cook: Greek Chicken Bowl (Meal Prep Easy)

My Greek cravings have been at an all-time high recently. So, I decided I wanted to try my hand at something. And, can I repeat something for those in the back, I CAN cook, I just don’t LIKE too! Pls, lets set this record straight for the millionth time. Just because someone chooses not to cook often, doesn’t mean they can. I mean, I do prefer to cook with a recipe. I make healthy, basic stuff without a recipe, but for new stuff, I like some guidance. Rant over. Of course, I ran to Pinterest to find a Greek-inspired recipe. I find looking for quick recipes is easier when I…

    Musings: Nourish

A full day of wellness you say… Sure, sign me up. Thanks to Erica, of Fit Crawl, I was gifted a ticket for myself and Ambriss to attend the inaugural Nourish wellness event in Sacramento, CA. Two women, Amber Rosen & Sarah Stebbins, created Nourish to ‘…empower you with the knowledge and tools to support your wellbeing on a consistent, daily basis.’ From what I remember from the event, they met less than a year ago, where the idea for Nourish was started. Since then, they’ve developed a wellness brand that is based on the elements of her: body soul wealth community You already know I’m a little snarky, even…

Musings: Adults DO Get HFM Disease

Don’t let the dumb Internet tell you otherwise. With a quick Interwebs search of Hand Foot Mouth Disease (HFMD), you’d think it is RARE that adults get this. LIES! All freakin’ lies. I’m here to tell you about the ugly side of it all! I honestly wish the Internet would update their verbiage and say that plenty of adults get it, but more tend to carry the disease without symptoms. There are so many more people in this world suffering from much worse things than HFMD. I get that. BUT, this shit is the worst. I don’t wish this on anyone. It is the most uncomfortable thing I’ve experienced in…

    Musings: Let’s Talk About Therapy

I’m just a girl who needed a therapist and decided to talk openly about it. I’m honored that people have reached out to me in regards to my experience with therapy and finding a therapist. I am not an expert and am still in the fresh stages of therapy, less than one year. But I would love to share my experience if it help others. Since I chose to be very open about my mental health post-breakup, a handful of friends and acquaintances have reached out about the details of my experience with therapy. While I believe sharing my truth is also being authentic with those around me, it has…

    Musings: Verbal Download

I haven’t done a purging of thoughts in a while, so here I am. Buckle up and get ready for the randomness train… Food Musings – Do men think about their bodies and food as much as women? This was a question I’ve posed to a few friends. Of course, the immediate answer is no. We’ve come to the conclusion that men don’t sit idle thinking about their weight, their body, and their food intake. I’m sure it passes through their consciousness, but they don’t dwell as women do. It’s almost as if I am re-programming myself to have positive thoughts about food. Why do we call food ‘bad?’ Why…

    Musings: 2018, A Year Of…E V E R Y T H I N G

Addio, 2018! I’m sure you assume the first thing I will say was wow what an awful year I’ve had. But you’re wrong! While some of the things that have happened felt awful, they were really blessings in disguises. Some, not all. But this year has also been filled with some of the BEST moments, memories, and adventures I’ve ever had. It has been a year of very polarizing emotions and events, but I’m leaving 2018 as a happier and healthier woman! Honesty – You chose to tell the truth, to be honest. It is a conscious decision. Whether it is a white lie or an omission, you make the…

Musings: My (Natural) Deodorant is Giving ME Anxiety

I don’t follow most of the fads… I think sometimes people think I don’t follow them on principle of not trying to be a cool kid. But really, if I’m not into it, I’m just not into it. And so no need in faking like for vampires (they truly scare me), books that hype up S&M or some wizard child. I’m not here to judge your liking of it all, it’s just not my thing. But I do follow some of the fads. I guess I wouldn’t call them fads, per se. After repeatedly hearing that too much soy is not good for women, guess who switched to rice milk?…

    Musings: A Recovering Absolutist

Black and white, all or nothing, should have or should have not… Do you ‘absolute‘ things in life? I have. I always have. It’s taken some (re: a lot) of self-reflection to understand that I am an absolutist. After doing a quick Google search about this type of thinking, it makes so much more sense why I react to certain things and situations like I do. I want to think I’m a ‘go with the flow’ type of person, but really, I’m not. I want to be and am going to work towards adopting that mentality, but it will be hard. Really effing hard. I also realized my Momma Bear…

Musings: Stop Calling it the Break Up Diet

I’ve always joked about it….we all joke about it… But I need to stop. I think everyone should stop. It happened with my first break up in 2005. I lost some weight, cried some, and did not know how to handle my sadness of ending a six-year relationship with my first, young love. I chose to use partying to hide anything I was feeling, but I could because I was 300+ miles away from the culprit and most of my support system too. I was too young and probably immature to realize there might have been a mental health issue attached to the breakup. As cliche as it is, I…

Musings: Wellness Programs are NOT for Millennials

And it pisses me off! I’ve had the experience of dealing with at least two wellness programs in my career. And BOTH are not for the millennial type. OR really, those we generally workout and stay active. Honestly, I feel like they should just be called ‘Baby Boomers Need to Get Healthy and Stop Costing Us So Much Money’ plans, cause that’s what they are. How do I get the SAME amount of ‘points’ for running a 5k and a marathon? A sprint tri and an IRONMAN? Literally, one wellness program gave 250 points for a half marathon and 350 points for a FULL marathon. Obviously, the people who created these…
