Race Recap: Sacramento Giant Race, 5k

Same race, same sissy’s, different year. I’ve been putting off writing this recap because honestly, it’s going to be basically the same as the ones I’ve written before 2018, 2017, and 2016. Well, besides the inaugural race (2016), they are pretty much the same. This year they updated the course slightly, which I’ll go over later. Other than that, it was business as usual for our hometown race under the Giants race series. Oh, one thing to note is that after three years they finally updated the race title to fit within the Giant race series a little more cohesively. It is no longer called the Riverfront race. I guess…

Race Recap: 2019 Annual Race for Justice

When race day lands on National Bagel Day! I’ve said it plenty of times, but this race is one of Sacramento’s best-hidden gem for the running community! The ease of parking, the minimal participants, the hills, and the gorgeous homes all make this one of my favorite runs offered in our city! Oh and it celebrates love, which I love! I didn’t realize this was the 16th year of this race. I’ve done it a bunch, but not sixteen years worth. It always cracks me up that this race is associated with lawyers/attorneys. Love and law don’t seem to equate to me, but hey, it works! As every year goes,…

    Musings: I’m in a Relationship

As the sun was setting, gazing at the most beautiful views of a cotton candy colored sky, I realized something. Something so profound, everything made so much sense at that moment. The clarity was almost too much for me to wrap my brain around. But with each stride, I fell into a clearness that once seemed so unreachable and far away. Finally, my first run of the year was simply, yet lucidly unraveling the jumbled thoughts and ideas I’ve had about running for a long time. Lately, running and I have had an extremely volatile relationship. To be fair, it has been volatile since I ran the Napa marathon in…

    Musings: 2018, A Year Of…E V E R Y T H I N G

Addio, 2018! I’m sure you assume the first thing I will say was wow what an awful year I’ve had. But you’re wrong! While some of the things that have happened felt awful, they were really blessings in disguises. Some, not all. But this year has also been filled with some of the BEST moments, memories, and adventures I’ve ever had. It has been a year of very polarizing emotions and events, but I’m leaving 2018 as a happier and healthier woman! Honesty – You chose to tell the truth, to be honest. It is a conscious decision. Whether it is a white lie or an omission, you make the…

Race Recap: San Jose 5mi 2018, Virtual Runner

Virtual recaps are the best… Slight sarcasm intended. They are quick because there isn’t much to talk about. I paid to run at my leisure. For some reason, I find myself needing to recap my virtual runs. Maybe because its something new or maybe because I spent money to run on my own time, in my own city, with no race fun. But here I am, telling you about the time I acted like a true virtual runner, unlike when I virtually ran the Scottsdale 5k. I love the voice the Giant Race team has cultivated. They are sassy and fun, not stuffy and uptight like you’d expect a professional sports league to…

    Race Recap(ish): The Big Run #GlobalRunningDay, 5k

I always appreciate this day, regardless of how running is going in my life. I could have sworn it was called #NationalRunningDay, but I guess not. I looked back to last years post and it was Global Running Day too. 2016 also had the same new name. Old habits die hard, I guess. Buuuut, 2014 was actually called #NationalRunningDay! And so was 2015, I finally found a blurb about it in an old post! I always remember this day in 2014, because I’m pretty sure its the first time I actually celebrated this day. I also remember this day, because Juan and I had run to Sac State for their free fun…

Race Recap: Women’s Fitness Festival, 10k

I didn’t realize it’s been F O U R years since I’ve run this race. I literally thought I ran it two years ago. But, NO! I think I remember why. I actually love the reason this race exists. Women ONLY race in my favorite city, Sacramento. That’s pretty rad. Empowering. All of the good that running does for our community and for women all rolled into one event for our city. That being said. A few things I remember why I don’t generally run this race anymore. In fact, that last time I ran this race they offered the half marathon distance, back in 2014. One reason is this…

Race Recap: Scottsdale 5k 2018, Virtual Runner

From October (if we are lucky) to February we dream in Orange && Black… However, we start receiving the Giant Race emails well into this quiet phase of non-baseball life. We get swept away with the ideals of a Series Sweep medal to prove we are okay spending at least $250 on running for our favorite team. We are okay with endless amounts of medals and bobbleheads because we LOVE our G-men! We do. We prove it every year. Every race. Every dollar spent. We are such SUCKERS! And I’m completely okay with it! That being said, this year, AGAIN, was not going to be a year that I’d be able to…

    Race Recap – Riverfront 5k 2018

No expectations, no worries. Since this race was literally one-week post break-up with J, I was still a huge emotional mess. I knew that wouldn’t stop me from physically running this race, but I also didn’t care about it. AT. ALL. Literally, it was the furthest thing from my mind. But, a commitment is a commitment and I don’t ever leave those unattended. From the lack of sleep and appetite to the emotional heartache I was dealing with, trying to comprehend a real race was truly just not something I could emotionally burn calories on. Not to mention, we were supposed to run this race together with Lil 🙁 I…

    Musings: #GaneebanTris – Week 2

…and fails! Not really fails, but damn humbled by the latest #TriTuesdayTraining for sure. But first, let’s get talking about post workout #1. Putting the bike in my car and getting it out is so damn annoying. Thankfully, J has been super helpful in doing this, even in the rain. Each time I have to put down the seats and remove the cover, then awkwardly scrape myself and my car, by trying to thrust the bike in there without getting it caught somewhere. Definitely a case of first world problems. Thankfully, I have a blog I can whine about these things. After the first training, I asked a few questions from…
