Musings: It’s Just the World Cup

Yes, I left out ‘Women’s’ on purpose. Just like I overheard this random dude say, “Why do they even call it the Women’s World Cup? It should just be the World Cup. Women are playing, but it’s still a World Cup.” At that moment, I almost wanted to hug, high-five, and kiss him all at once. I mean, I didn’t…but to hear a random man say that was so refreshing. Sadly, many of my male friends seem to think it is okay to degrade women’s sports. I know, I need better male friends. And of course, it pisses me off! I will forever and ever loudly support women’s sports, women’s…

Thinking Out Loud – Happy Thoughts

Loving my happy mood… Amanda at . RUNNING WITH SPOONS. I’m going to chalk it up to lady business and say that I was in a bad/ugly mood the last few days, but that has come and gone. Maybe its the endorphins from my workout this AM or my pizza hangover, but I’m in better spirits. So here goes my Thursday randomness ritual! Nailed It // I’m doing a 5K with my work tonight and I wanted to make my oversized shirt cute. Well, my ability to ‘nail it’ goes beyond food, apparently! Damn DIY, Pinterest, you got me AGAIN! Here’s where I found my inspiration gone wrong! So I…

    Rose &Thorn [31]

Well, HELLO 2015! Rose: Our first New Years Eve. Thorn: Still coughing and NOT running.Like my last Rose & Thorn post, I’ll just keep it to the highlights, because it was a long weekend. And by a long weekend, I mean mid-Wednesday to Sunday. So, instead of boring you to death, we’ll make it a pic blog post with some random words 😉 This AM felt like I had to report back to school, except it was for work. So back to the grind with no days off in sight! New Year’s Eve – Spent with just the two of us. It started with a trip to Target (to use…

    Rose & Thorn [24]

A day late, my bad…   My body is exhausted, but my heart is happy! Rose: Spending our first night in our new home!  Thorn: Exhaustion from all things moving… Let me just tell you moving right next door, is STILL moving! We had so much help, but I’m exhausted from everything and our house is still in a disarray. FRIDAY I have always wanted glasses! I’m that weird kid that loved to pretend to wear glasses and made a retainer out of foil. Wait…you didn’t do that? Okay, so I might have been a little creative as a kid 😉 I left work a little early to head to…

    WIAW – Wild Card Goodness

In honor of the SF Giants NLDS clinch last night, I’ll reflect on the night that got them here… If you don’t follow baseball, then I’m sorry. If you do, then you know what the Wild Card game is all about. MLB 101, real quick – skip if you already know this! Basically, the Wild Card is a one game elimination to see if you move on to the next round of the playoffs, the Division Series. There are two leagues within the MLB, the American League and the National League. Each league has a Wild Card game to determine who will be the fourth team in the NLDS/ALDS. My…

    Musings: Runner's Swag on High!

I’m still treating this 30 year old body, like it’s a 20 year old version… Up until this past weekend, my body has been doing great after runs. Alas, I had to hit a wall somewhere. After running an unofficial half marathon with the lil, then showering and running straight to an outdoor game (with no subs) – my body has yet to recover. Granted, I haven’t allowed it to either. Monday night was an indoor soccer game, Tuesday AM was a strength and condition class and 6 miles, relatively easy, in the evening. Needless to say, it’s Wednesday and I have my temp/speed training with my running group tonight. So, as…

    Musings: Joga Bonita

The beautiful game. Also an instant realization that my 30 year old body does not match my 20 year old spirit. My mind knows how to play the game, but my legs just don’t follow suit. I was frustrated and happy all in the same! Happy to still be able to play the game that I’ve always been in love with, yet completely frustrated with how I was playing. Gone are the days of practicing five days a week. Gone are they days where practice is the most time consuming thing in my life. Gone are the days that I can eat whatever I want because I practiced for 2+…
