    Musings: OOO Every Thursday

Something needed to change… …and it was on me. I feel a little fraudulent. I tend to share a lot of self-love, growth, and healing posts on social media and even here on the blog. But YET AGAIN, I find myself not listening to my own body. 10 amazing days in Hawaii, followed by a non-stop schedule when I touched down at home. All (kinda) came to a halt when my body decided to remind my mind to STOP. Slow down and stop going so fast. Be by yourself, be still. It isn’t until my body starts to shut down, do I slow down. I know this, yet I don’t practice…

    Musings: Nourish

A full day of wellness you say… Sure, sign me up. Thanks to Erica, of Fit Crawl, I was gifted a ticket for myself and Ambriss to attend the inaugural Nourish wellness event in Sacramento, CA. Two women, Amber Rosen & Sarah Stebbins, created Nourish to ‘…empower you with the knowledge and tools to support your wellbeing on a consistent, daily basis.’ From what I remember from the event, they met less than a year ago, where the idea for Nourish was started. Since then, they’ve developed a wellness brand that is based on the elements of her: body soul wealth community You already know I’m a little snarky, even…

    Musings: Expectations

Everyone has them, but not everyone lives up to them. Scrolling through IG stories, I came across a story that put one of life’s biggest lessons so simple: Stop expecting YOU from people. When I read that, I was like, “THIS is what I’ve been trying to articulate for forever!” This is one of my biggest lessons I’ve learned in my 30’s. It’s taken that long for me to realize this and I am trying not to judge myself for this, but I’m just grateful I know it now. It doesn’t make it any easier when I feel let down. But it is teaching me to release expectations. Or at…

    Musings: Gung Hay Fat Choy

It’s our year, Pigs! Or boars, which ever you prefer. This half-Chinese, half-Filipino gal is wishing you and yours a wonderful and prosperous new year! I feel a need or desire to educate those who come to my space about this holiday. I’ve done it every year, for the past handful of years. So, I don’t think I’ll go into all those details. Rather, I wanted to share some of the Pig characteristics, becuase so many of my friends were born in the same year as I, thus we are all PIGS together! Do you ever read something, such as your astrolgical sign or your zodica animal, and sit there…

    Musings: FALLing into Gratitude

Fall brings one of my favorite holidays. Door Mat // Hobby LobbyShoes & Dress // Old Navy Thanksgiving, of course.  But more than taking in all the beautiful fall colors lining the streets of Sacramento, are the small acts of generosity that recently reminded me to be grateful and thankful. So, very appropriate for this time of year. To think that a child could not try a sport or activity is foreign to me. My naivety comes from the privilege and hard work of my parents, whom never let this be a barrier for myself or Lil. It went unnoticed at the time, but my parents worked so hard to…

    Musings: Week Day Pampering

Along with cinnamon rolls as appetizers, I’m petitioning for week day pampering! via Pinterest Week days are not just for work, dinner, working out, and carting kids to soccer practice. Seriously, pampering ourselves on a week day should be something we all do, men and women. I have a feeling most of us wait until the weekend to try and fit it into our schedule on top of everything else, but scheduling some personal pampering time is a must. I think at times we try not to be selfish and do this, especially if we have families. However, ‘self-care is a divine responsibility!’ And don’t confuse taking time for the…

Musings: It Isn’t Fall Without Apple Hill

Do you have Fall traditions?! If you live in or near Sacramento, I’m sure you travel to Apple Hill at least once a year. If you’re lucky (and brave), you go more. What is Apple Hill, you may ask? It’s rolling hills of apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and Christmas tree farms in Camino, California. Home of apple fritters the size of your face and an endless supply of apple donuts and apple cider. Among other things…such as arts and crafts for sale, homemade everything, and a classic Fall day with family and/or friends. It’s basically a Fall staple for any Northern Californian. From Sacramento, it’s only about a 45 minute drive…on a good day. I could…

    Musings: The Four Agreements

Some friends are spirits who you need in your life… …you just didn’t know it, until something magical happens. I was lucky to met Mel many decades ago, when her son and my Lovebug met in elementary school. Over the years, our friendship has slowly blossomed. I admire her for so many reasons, but her spirituality and openness has been something that is very inspiring. Recently, she posted ‘The Four Agreements’ and I needed to be scrolling through my FB feed at that exact moment to read them. I’ve been feeling a little lost a lot lately — maybe a pre-mid life crisis, maybe just life. Her post spoke to…

City Girl Hikes: Alamere Falls – Bolinas, CA

This City girl seeks nature from time to time! Since we haven’t done a hike since last summer AND we finally had a free weekend with nothing on the calendar, I told J we were hiking! HAHA! Well, I really said I needed a hike in my life. He obliged and we asked our friends Melanie & Alex to join us, as they had for last summers hike! We almost canceled the hike with Outside Lands and the freeway repair, we thought the freeway would be a mess. Just to get to the hike is a little over two hours. Add traffic and we’d be stuck in the car all…

    Musings: A Reminder + Grace

I’m angry. I’m frustrated. I’m pissed. I’m H U M A N. And I cannot come here and give you the ugly details of why or what (for fear of use during useless litigation), but I can sit here and explain my anger and ask the questions I’ll never get to ask. Writing them into the abyss feels better than to keep them in my mind space and wondering how evil prevails… THEN…this weekend I was put in my place. I was told “it’s none of your business.” When I say ‘put in my place,’ I mean given a new perspective from someone who’s gone through a similar experience, or something of…
