    Musings: ENFP

I’m going to start using Myers-Briggs to vet potential dates! I haven’t heard four letters thrown around so freely until I started at my current employer. I’ve taken the test a handful of times, on my own accord. But I’ve never had my employer be such a huge advocate for Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). They encourage us to find ours, then they go deeper and teach you to communicate and learn from other types. I enjoy professional development, probably more than most. I was really excited to sign up for this course and to solidify which four letters would be assigned to me. Little did I know, they aren’t assigned…

    Musings: 2018, A Year Of…E V E R Y T H I N G

Addio, 2018! I’m sure you assume the first thing I will say was wow what an awful year I’ve had. But you’re wrong! While some of the things that have happened felt awful, they were really blessings in disguises. Some, not all. But this year has also been filled with some of the BEST moments, memories, and adventures I’ve ever had. It has been a year of very polarizing emotions and events, but I’m leaving 2018 as a happier and healthier woman! Honesty – You chose to tell the truth, to be honest. It is a conscious decision. Whether it is a white lie or an omission, you make the…

    Musings: Moving On

…and letting go. This seems to be the last and hardest part of the relationship process. Obviously with a breakup, but also with any relationship ending too. Or any situation that has posed strife or hardships. While they are independent, moving on and letting go, most times one precludes the other. Not always, but sometimes. This has, by far, been the hardest thing for me to do. I can’t control it and when I do, I only makes it harder on myself. My intuition is too good, sometimes I try to ignore it. The evening I heard Juan speaking Spanish to someone on the phone late at night, I knew. My…

Musings: My (Natural) Deodorant is Giving ME Anxiety

I don’t follow most of the fads… I think sometimes people think I don’t follow them on principle of not trying to be a cool kid. But really, if I’m not into it, I’m just not into it. And so no need in faking like for vampires (they truly scare me), books that hype up S&M or some wizard child. I’m not here to judge your liking of it all, it’s just not my thing. But I do follow some of the fads. I guess I wouldn’t call them fads, per se. After repeatedly hearing that too much soy is not good for women, guess who switched to rice milk?…

    Musings: Lash Out

Lash out… But not in the psycho, angry at the world kinda way. Like the beautiful, lashing of your eyes! I’d been saying for a while I wanted them. I have done extensive, local research for cost and skills. This is an expensive journey to start, from the initial set to the frequency of fills. That all being said, I decided to not to go for it. Eventually, I started the process over again, trying to find a reasonable solution. I’d done three rounds of this, without following through. Mostly, because the cost seems exorbitant and I already have enough girly maintenance that’s built into my budget. I honestly couldn’t justify…

    Musings: A Recovering Absolutist

Black and white, all or nothing, should have or should have not… Do you ‘absolute‘ things in life? I have. I always have. It’s taken some (re: a lot) of self-reflection to understand that I am an absolutist. After doing a quick Google search about this type of thinking, it makes so much more sense why I react to certain things and situations like I do. I want to think I’m a ‘go with the flow’ type of person, but really, I’m not. I want to be and am going to work towards adopting that mentality, but it will be hard. Really effing hard. I also realized my Momma Bear…

    Musings: A SURPRISE Breakup Party

No Juan was harmed during this celebration! I feel like this type of thing only happens to Real Housewives of [insert hella different cities] or on SATC! N E V E R did I imagine my girl tribe would surprise me with a breakup party! I woke up the next day with the largest smile I’ve had in a long time and even caught myself literally laughing out loud to myself, about the antics of a wonderful evening celebrating my breakup. The group chat for the entire next day was literally giving me life and had me laughing out loud in my cubicle and at the gym! Seriously, I am…

Musings: Cannabis + The Red Tent

What in the WORLD could these two things have in common? Well, they are the themes of two events I attended last week. During my process through self-exploration and growth, I have wanted to challenge myself. Challenge my perceptions, beliefs, and perceived thoughts. It has been a challenge all right! But worth it… Cannabis as I now call it, no longer weed or marijuana, has always had a stigma with it in my mind, thoughts, and perceptions. I’ve never hidden this, but I’ve always somewhat accepted and supported friends who use this plant — recreationally or medicinally. However, I did and do have my opinions about it. As its prevalence grows, in…

Musings: Stop Calling it the Break Up Diet

I’ve always joked about it….we all joke about it… But I need to stop. I think everyone should stop. It happened with my first break up in 2005. I lost some weight, cried some, and did not know how to handle my sadness of ending a six-year relationship with my first, young love. I chose to use partying to hide anything I was feeling, but I could because I was 300+ miles away from the culprit and most of my support system too. I was too young and probably immature to realize there might have been a mental health issue attached to the breakup. As cliche as it is, I…

    Musings: Triathlons, The Basics

Three disciplines that create one race! What sick bastard thought this up? Bwahaha! To be fair, most of these ideas are not original, but I was asked not to credit said person I learned this info from. Well to be fair, some was learned from said person and some were learned with a simple Google search. So, in a hopefully aesthetically pleasing way, I share with you the basics… Of course, I have my own preferences regarding different equipment, as would each of you. If you are reading this AND experienced in Tri’s, what would you suggest? One extra thing that I would suggest is a good watch, but I…
