Musings: VRBO (Rental #318895) Gone Wrong

You pay for what you get… If you remember way back to August 2016, we went to Hawaii for Lil’s 30th birthday. Here are a few of the posts: Cali Girl Does Hawaii: Back to the Island Cali Girl Does Hawaii: #SAndJTravels_Hawaii Cali Girl Does Hawaii: Zippin’ on a Whim We’d never used VRBO, but others in our family had, so we gave it a shot. It’s like the original Air BnB. We did not due our due diligence in finding a home and we also chose to error on the cheap side when selecting our final rental. Boy did that bite us in the ass. But we all tried…

    Thanks, 2016 — Hellllo 2017!

Nope, never, nada… I don’t do resolutions! Resolutions are so finite. They seem demanding and almost as if they set (every)one up for failure. Resolution – a firm decision to do or not do something (Google definition). I’m sure I’ve spoke about my opinion on NY reso’s, but that does not mean I judge anyone for making or working toward their own. They just aren’t for me. This year — 2 0 1 7 — I wanted to set some goals. I guess one may call them resolutions, but I sure as hell wouldn’t. I wanted to write some things down and hold myself accountable. I have also envisioned myself…

    Musings: A December to Remember

When 3 weeks feel like a MONTH! Well, when it’s the Holiday’s I guess time gets magnified and accelerated…or at least in my little world it does. I haven’t checked-in in a while, so here I am. Some good things, some stressful things…but in all, life is good. I don’t really have any complaints — besides the normal ones, so many gifts, so little money 😉 So here goes nothing, just a random spew of musings to keep you amused or annoyed. Adventuring // We are trying something new, really I am forcing it up on our little family. Instead of buying L presents, which she gets an endless supply…

Musings: Every Summer Has a Story…

2016  was the Summer of polarizing emotions, feelings, and life. More than anything, emotionally this was the hardest Summer I’ve ever experienced. Within the depths of deep sadness and anger, were moments of fun, travel, and good food. All culminated with happiness, but to get here was a struggle. I’m pretty sure I came across the saying “Every Summer Has a Story,” as I was scrolling through Pinterest one day. It stuck with me. It rings so true. Even as an adult, I still live for summers. Bikini’s, tans, vacations, and watermelon — summer is my favorite season, even in the sweltering Sacramento heat. Last year I wrote a post…

    Musings: Once A Californian Year

The CA State Fair is so misunderstood… …like a solemn teenager. Maybe it’s because I’m born and raised Sacramentan OR maybe it’s because I love fried food, rides, animals, and everything California. Whatever the reason, I make it my summer goal to never miss a fair! Faux curly hair for the occasion! I’ll never understand those people who live in Sacramento for multiple years and have never been to or chose not to go to to the California State Fair! Sure it’s hot, sure it costs some bread, sure there’s lots of people. Sure to all of that, but in turn…that’s what makes it great! Here are a few posts…

    3 6 5 Days

…of not eating Fast Food. I don’t want accolades. But J sure does.  I will give him his kudos and accolades, but I still don’t need them. I’m an “all in or out” type of girl, which isn’t new. I don’t do good with moderation, probably another 2016 goal that should be worked on. That being said, food, especially Fast Food, (FF here on out) is no exception. I have done this before, J has not. The first time I did this, I went one year. The second time I did it, it was two years, now I believe this was my third time and I did it for one year (again)…

    New Year, New Adventures

Ending 2015 with a grateful heart champs and starting 2016 cursing the champs! Normally, my entire family gets together for the first day of the year. But this year they all decided to travel…all to the same city, apparently! HAHA! This means that we were left to our own devices. It felt really odd, because my family has a party every holiday and we just didn’t this year…out of nowhere. So, knowing that, I planned a fun little day trip to the City (San Francisco, for those that don’t use this lingo) for J and I. Eater SF and Yelp were awesome in helping me plan a few activities for…
