    Musings: Travel Anxiety

    Do you have travel anxiety? I didn’t know this was a thing. One day, Juan (I believe this is who told me about this) brought up my packing style. I’m second guessing if this is whom I actually had the convo with, but the message has stuck with me, whoever it was with. The gist was when you pack a ton of stuff (or overpacking), you essentially have travel anxiety. When I first heard this it kinda made sense. I always overpack for every trip. I make up scenarios and needs for items that will not or never exist. I usually only use about 2/3 of what I bring, but I…

    Musings: Pitchers && Catchers A N D FanFest

    Blogger FAIL, this was supposed to be posted yesterday // 2.13.17… Everyone is excited about GALentines, but it’s all about PITCHERS & CATCHERS reporting TODAY! via sfgiants.com I’m all about celebrating women, which is today….BUT…I can’t hide my excitement for Baseball season! Fan Fest for my beloved SF Giants was this weekend, which only heightened my excitement level. As we came down from the high of seeing our favorite humans and being in our home away from home, we didn’t have to let our low get too low. Because only two short days later is today, when our pitchers and catchers report to Arizona for Spring Training. Now, we all…

    Christmas Advenutre: The Last Day…

    A day with no plans… This felt really nice after going nonstop from Christmas Eve to now. There were only two things that we had planned for the day, L had to have some pool time and J had to watch is beloved Spurs play! That was it…well, and of course I had to go to the beach for at least 5 minutes. In case you missed my sporadic (not back-to-back) posts about our Christmas Adventure, to our visit to the SD Zoo or the Safari Park, feel free to catch up. Something new and fun for our family and I definitely recommend everyone trying it one year, especially if…

    A Christmas Adventure – The San Diego Safari Park

    Another day, another adventure… In case you missed the last two posts, you can catch up and read about our Christmas Adventure and why we thought it would be something fun to try. You will then know that we were in sunny San Diego and our first stop was the San Diego Zoo! Our second day found us adventuring at the San Diego Safari Park. Since we went to bed fairly late the last two evenings AND spent 9 hours at the zoo the day before, we decided to let L get some well deserved zzz’s. We didn’t rush to get up and out the door to be at the Safari Park…

    A Christmas Adventure – The San Diego Zoo

    Always say yes to adventures… …especially when they involve anything in San Diego! If you read yesterday’s post, then you already know our Christmas adventure found us in San Diego! Well, if you know anything about San Diego, most people know it’s the home of an awesome Zoo and Safari Park.  Thanks to J’s Mom we purchased 2-day passes at a discount, which was a perfect baller-on-a-budget way to make adventure what it was! This pass allows you to go to either park on each of the two days, in an combination you’d prefer. We chose to do one day at each park. This was also the exact reason our…

    The New Tradition: A Christmas Adventure

    What do you get a kid who has pretty much everything? Okay, none of us are rich (by any means), but the kid literally has most everything she wants or needs. She still has presents that haven’t been opened from her birthday four months ago. I don’t think she needs more presents, well not from us at least. Having a blended family, means you get more than one of every occasion, for the most part – Christmas and Birthday to be exact. Well, that is, unless the parents can throw a joint party together, then you can combine the events. But in our case, we can’t, so we don’t! There…

    THANKSgiving 2016

    Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. – William Arthur Ward It’s pretty hard not to be reminded of the essence of tomorrow, Thanksgiving! More than anything lately, remembering to be grateful and thankful for every single thing has help me stay grounded, sane, and be accepting of plenty of things I can and cannot change. So, to be as cliche as possible I’m going to put my “THANKS” out into the Interwebs. Tomorrow, I hope to enjoy each moment with family, friends, and good food — all the important Fs in one’s life! I am thankful for… New Family Dynamics //…

    Musings: Every Summer Has a Story…

    2016  was the Summer of polarizing emotions, feelings, and life. More than anything, emotionally this was the hardest Summer I’ve ever experienced. Within the depths of deep sadness and anger, were moments of fun, travel, and good food. All culminated with happiness, but to get here was a struggle. I’m pretty sure I came across the saying “Every Summer Has a Story,” as I was scrolling through Pinterest one day. It stuck with me. It rings so true. Even as an adult, I still live for summers. Bikini’s, tans, vacations, and watermelon — summer is my favorite season, even in the sweltering Sacramento heat. Last year I wrote a post…

    Cali Girl Does Hawaii: Zippin' on a Whim

    A family that adventures together… …laughs endlessly at one another! We’d been randomly talking about zip lining and/or horseback riding, but no one was really taking it seriously enough to make a reservation. So, late into multiple hours tanning at Sunset Beach on Friday, I called Climb Works about eight minutes before they closed, inquiring about availability for the next day (Saturday). Between about ten phone calls in the span of those eight minutes they were left open, we secured a reservation. Two actually, originally zipping at 3:45PM on Saturday, we found out that there was a 7:20AM time slot. Even though that was early (4:20AM our time) it would…

    City Girl Hikes: Lake Clementine Trail – Auburn, CA

    Kinda like a staycation… …but, NOT! I thought I had more posts specific about various hikes, but I guess I don’t. But I’m adding to my series I’ve dubbed “City Girl Hikes”: City Girl Hikes: Mission Peak – Fremont, CA   Auburn is only a short 30 to 45-minute drive from probably anywhere in Sacramento. So, it makes for a great place to get outdoors and have some fun. Mostly Auburn has been synonymous with trail running for me. Many races in the hard hills of Auburn, CA have been raced but never hiked (even though it felt like that during most races). I knew it had plenty of trails,…
