    Musings: Hostess with the Mostess

I have a secret……everyone thinks I love to host parties! Well, technically that’s the truth — but to be completely honest I am a faux hostess. I always wait until the last minute, I always shop on a budget, and I hate to admit it, but I use the hell out of Pinterest for hosting parties. Most importantly, I take shortcuts wherever possible. This post is perfectly timed because this Saturday we are hosting L’s 8th birthday party and I’ve done all of the things listed above. Summer, outdoor parties are my fave to host and plan! Nothing better than taking advantage of the great summer outdoor weather to gather friends && family! Since we always…

    Ganeeban Runs Shamrock'n – Week 8

When you forget (re: choose) to run… So I had every intention of being a good runner this week and to finish out this training session strong. But the weather had other plans and decided to be a jerk. And by jerk I mean really, really rainy! Like the damn had to be released for the first time in years, due to all the rain we’ve had lately. I’ve even concluded that I may not race if it rains that hard on race day. I know, I’m being a baby. But I have no intention of getting sick before our trip at the end of the month. I even contemplated running 13.1…

    Musings: Woe is 33

Or Me! Life at 33…is about the same as life at 32 😉 I’d love to sit here and tell you how amazing and exciting my birthday weekend was, but it really wasn’t. Please don’t mistake this for me being upset or sad about my birthday, AT ALL! I must preface with, I’ve celebrated my birthday in larger fashion for most of the last two decades. This is honestly the first year I didn’t do anything on what I’d deem a larger scale – no wine tasting trip, no trip to AZ, not even a night out at a club with dinner.  Birthday eve was a nice little girls night…

Musings: I'm Lookin' At You 33

I’ve never been afraid to get old. Flashback to my 32nd Birthday I know some people dread their birthday, but I don’t. It means I get to celebrate another year of life. Yes, some years are harder than others, but without struggle we wouldn’t know the good (insert life quote somewhere there). And hey, I’m openly narcissistic enough to celebrate ‘Me’ for one day a year. Or a month if that happens to be the case, they don’t call it ‘Birthday Month’ for no reason, or maybe that’s just me 😉 Flashback to my 31st Birthday Flashback to the other part of my 32nd Birthday – Donut Dash 5k Anyways,…

    SURPRISE!

I pulled it off! I really, really pulled it off! I knew I might be able too, but when it actually came to fruition, it felt amazing. This post is a little overdue, I apologize. I’ve missed this space…a lot! Almost…since his (J’s) last birthday, I knew I wanted to do something big for him for his next birthday. Then my birthday rolled around and he planned a surprise trip. Not that we have to outdo each other or anything, but it inspired me to do something big. Plan something I’ve never done before. I decided that I wanted to surprise J (and L) with a weekend trip to Disneyland.…

You’re One In A Melon [Watermelon Themed Party]

Baller-on-a-budget, kids themed party status! To say we were on a tight budget, is an understatement. All our traveling bills came at once and so did a rapidly approaching birthday party! But you make do, because that’s how life goes. In our house, watermelon goes by the name of sandia (watermelon in Spanish), so it unofficially became the ‘sandia party’ in our everyday lives and discussions! I know I love to say how much I detest Pinterest, but it really came in handy this time around. All I had to to was type “watermelon + themed + party” and I really didn’t have to do much from there. Well, besides…

I’m Livin’ my Friday in FIVES! Thanks, Clare! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve linked up with Clare, so here goes nothin’… I literally did it exactly as she does these posts – like a true copy cat! Rose & Thorn [46]

I’m Yessss, it’s Monday! Marathon Monday, deserves a quick shout out! Rose: Family and friends, por vida! Thorn: Nothing really at all…does a stiff right ankle, that’s been annoying, count? Yup, you read that right. This week is going to be the BEST ever. Only three days of working and two fun events that I am so giddy, giddy gum drop excited for! Friday Off to go pick up our fave little girl, we didn’t have many plans. We did have to run a few errands for the weekend birthday parties we were attending, so we did that to kill a little time in Folsom. I was having a serious…

    Rose & Thorn [45]

Happy Monday. – No one ever Rose: Celebrating two birthdays and a fun little 5 miler race! Thorn: Sore. Sore. Sore! As always, a weekend that flew by with tons of fun in between. In the event of keeping it short, here goes an attempt. Friday I’m not used to Friday night plans, so when Tanna invited us to her birthday I was happy to oblige. We all met up at Strings Italian Kitchen, in my old stomping grounds, for dinner. They all were going to go skating afterwards, but we had a long weekend ahead of us and decided to skip that part of the evening. I hadn’t eaten…

Five Things Friday – Be Happy!

Smiling…for no reason! Thanks, Clare! Not that it should be a bad thing, but I’m in a great mood today. I guess, sometimes I feel bad for being so happy and content with my life. There are so many ugly things happening, in addition to hurt and pain, and I’m sitting here smiling at what I have and what surrounds me. So today, I will only post 5 Things That Are Making Me Happy and keep it to just that: 1. National Sibling Day — Today is that day. If you’ve been around these parts at all, then it’s not really important that I remind you how amazing it is…
