Race Recap: Sacramento Giant Race, 5k

Same race, same sissy’s, different year. I’ve been putting off writing this recap because honestly, it’s going to be basically the same as the ones I’ve written before 2018, 2017, and 2016. Well, besides the inaugural race (2016), they are pretty much the same. This year they updated the course slightly, which I’ll go over later. Other than that, it was business as usual for our hometown race under the Giants race series. Oh, one thing to note is that after three years they finally updated the race title to fit within the Giant race series a little more cohesively. It is no longer called the Riverfront race. I guess…

    Musings: As of Late

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve caught you up on life. I kinda miss doing my Rose & Thorn weekend recaps. Although I felt they were getting monotonous, I still enjoy detailing my weekend out for my readers. Anywho, I thought I’d catch you up on what’s going on in my life lately. And by lately, I mean the last month or so. Oh Happy Hayes – My cousin is marrying the sweetest girl, his college sweetheart! The lovely ladies of the Ganeeban clan were gracious enough to throw her a Bridal Shower. Since my Mom and all the Aunties were in charge, I just asked if I could…

Feliz Viernez y’all! Thanks, Clare! Today, I’ll do exactly as Clare envisioned her link up. All things by 5’s. Mini Choco Chip Pizookie – a dessert I kinda shared with J on Wednesday. I took a pic, but when I did the back-up on my new phone it went away ๐Ÿ™ 2. Ginger Elizabeth Macarons – These were made with our new BD Almond Flour, they were divine. Oh-kay…relax, I only ate two…the rest were for my company’s quarterly meeting! 120…

Thinking Out Loud – Short Week Style

Longest short week ever… Amanda at .RUNNING WITH SPOONS. It’s only four days, right? Then why does it feel like it’s been six days and it’s only Thursday? Ah well, the weekend will be worth it! My 2 Faves // Last night I had the pleasure of spending the evening with my two favorite men – J and Poppa Bear. After a couple hours at the Verizon store, we were starving! It was fun to enjoy these two, all to myself! We ate good food, drank good drinks, and watched sports. As I sat there, I noticed how content I was with both of their presence. It’s not very often…

    Rose & Thorn [40]

Adult slumber parties are the best… Rose: Celebrating my 32nd twice on Saturday! Thorn: A lingering migraine/headache since Wednesday… Mind out of the gutter, I’m talking about an all girls, actually woman, slumber party! This weekend was filled with family and friends, and my birthday of course. Although, no matter what the occasion is, I just love being surrounded by those that I love! Friday Friday Family Date Night! I mentioned to J that we should go to BJ’s so I could get a free birthday pizookie, that was all it took. We waited a bit, it was the typical Friday night crowd, but we were seated within about 20…

    WW(e)AW – Anniversary Eats

I’m Lucky us ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks, Jenn! Presidents day happened to coincide with our one year anniversary this year. So here is What We Ate Monday in celebration of our long weekend and one year of being official, sound so old school! I don’t know if its time, situational, or what, but I used to put a huge emphasis on anniversaries. Previously, I’d go all out – elaborate gifts, meals, etc. – but this year we kept it very simple. Maybe that will change next year or maybe it won’t, either way it was a lovely day with my fella! Somehow our lucky stars aligned and we had this extra special day…

    Rose & Thorn [33]

Weekends are now synonymous with “long runs”… Rose: Celebrating my dativersary with J. Thorn: The bottom of my feet hurting, something crazy, after my long run…new pain! Friday  Game night with the soccer homies! I say soccer homies because most of us play soccer together, but we all also hang out outside of soccer too. After work, I went home to make my BLT dip for the party and also clean up the casa a bit. Just another case of the #NailedIt , but on a much smaller scale this time. I hate, no really hate mayo, so I found other ways to substitute it out. All of the ingredients…

    Rose &Thorn [31]

Well, HELLO 2015! Rose: Our first New Years Eve. Thorn: Still coughing and NOT running.Like my last Rose & Thorn post, I’ll just keep it to the highlights, because it was a long weekend. And by a long weekend, I mean mid-Wednesday to Sunday. So, instead of boring you to death, we’ll make it a pic blog post with some random words ๐Ÿ˜‰ This AM felt like I had to report back to school, except it was for work. So back to the grind with no days off in sight! New Year’s Eve – Spent with just the two of us. It started with a trip to Target (to use…

    Rose & Thorn [16]

Rest, relax, repeat… Rose: Relaxing without too much of a schedule the entire weekend… Thorn: Hearing that a family friends Opa (Grandpa) wasn’t doing well and then hearing he passed away on Sunday afternoon. Well miss you Opa! I chose to relax this weekend. Don’t get it twisted, there were still things on the agenda, but I took advantage of every extra minute to relax and rest this weekend. I did sneak in some laundry, very lackadaisical, unlike my militant laundry ways! However, beside the few obligations – which were all super fun, I spent it lounging in bed and watching sports. Yeah, you think that sounds perfect too? FRIDAY…

    Rose & Thorn [10]

It was a Summer weekend, with not-so-Summer weather! Rose: Finding some joy in running this weekend and slowly working out the knee issue! Thorn: There was no sun, so our poolside tanning plans turned into a raining hot tub session :/ What was your Rose Thorn? It was one of those weekends that goes by swiftly, but nothing was too crazy! I will say that I think I found something that sparked me to want to really start running again. After running a decent pace for my leg of the team triathlon, I had a pretty decent runner’s high. My lack of training has lead me to believe that I…
