Musings: Take Your Parents to Work Day

Millennials are good for something… …like faux national holidays celebrating food or random things for social media, being overly active in expressing their feelings, and a whole bunch of other sarcastic things you can insert here. However, one thing I can totally get behind is the creation of Take Your Parents to Work Day. For years, we millennials have accompanied our parents to work for a day. Did you do this growing up? I loved going with my Dad, because he let me do work (or play, I’m not too sure) on Excel and I felt important and excited to eventually enter the workforce. Even though he was in finance…

Musings: Swooning over the CA State Fair

Another year, another CA State Fair!   Just living my best life possible, one fried thing at a time! I can’t really say much that I haven’t already said over the last few years: 2016, 2015, 2014, and another 2014. But what I can do, is share my mostly food adventures from my two visits from this year! I really love their hashtag this year, #LiveInTheMoment! Don’t we all need to do that. It really should be something we strive for, especially since all of our gadgets (re: screen time) are so prevalent these days! On our first visit, we went on a weekday afternoon with L, J’s Mom, his aunt, J, and myself. The…

    Musings: Once A Californian Year

The CA State Fair is so misunderstood… …like a solemn teenager. Maybe it’s because I’m born and raised Sacramentan OR maybe it’s because I love fried food, rides, animals, and everything California. Whatever the reason, I make it my summer goal to never miss a fair! Faux curly hair for the occasion! I’ll never understand those people who live in Sacramento for multiple years and have never been to or chose not to go to to the California State Fair! Sure it’s hot, sure it costs some bread, sure there’s lots of people. Sure to all of that, but in turn…that’s what makes it great! Here are a few posts…

    Musings: Consistently, Inconsistent

That title pretty much sums up my blogging routine lately… Via …and I’m actually okay with it. I was pumping out five posts a week. They were very automated, by that I mean I did the same thing week in, week out. As a reader, thanks for sticking around – whatever your intentions may be. I’d love to think people come here to see what I’m up too and genuinely be happy for me, or just for a decent read. The realist in me knows that’s not why all people come to my little part of the blogisphere. Those that come here with ill intentions are welcomed to keep their…

WIAW – The CA State Fair

Once a year I get to not give a crap and eat ALL the damn fried food I can find… Thanks, Jenn! If you’re lucky enough to host your state fair in your city, then you know what I’m talking about. I absolutely love everything about the California state fair and I go every year…I’m pretty sure I haven’t missed a year in my 31 years of existence. As a baby, maybe, but I pretend that I didn’t. I even worked at the fair for about 3 summers. The excruciating hot weather is unbearable, but the camaraderie with the fellow high school/college students and availability of fried food every day…

    5 Things Friday

Literally, just five today! Thanks, Clare! Just keeping it short and sweet for you! Seems fitting, so I’m going with it… 1. State Fair – If you should be so lucky to have your State Fair in your city, then you know what I’m talking about. All things Carnie’s and fried goodness attack you at some point during your trip! Luckily the #CAStateFair has it all – from Carnie headquarters (the Midway), to the ever so popular Hypnotist, to all things fried and unhealthy, to air conditioned buildings that are stalls on stalls of infomercials brought to life, to the secret wine garden, to all types of stinky animals for…
