Cali Girl Does San Diego: Girls Long Weekend

Four days in sunny SD bliss! Lil had to head down to SD for a wedding, so she asked if I wanted to make a fun weekend out of it. Uh, yeah, duh! Then I invited Monique too, so it became round two of our Disneyland trip in March for my birthday. I crowdsourced FB for recommendations and everyone came in clutch. I saved all the reccos in my Yelp Stay Classy SD collection of places to visit, things to do, and places to eat! I thought I’d share what and where we ate but also places we visited: Snooze, An A.M. Eatery – breakfast pot pie and coffeeSan Diego…

    Musings: Nourish

A full day of wellness you say… Sure, sign me up. Thanks to Erica, of Fit Crawl, I was gifted a ticket for myself and Ambriss to attend the inaugural Nourish wellness event in Sacramento, CA. Two women, Amber Rosen & Sarah Stebbins, created Nourish to ‘…empower you with the knowledge and tools to support your wellbeing on a consistent, daily basis.’ From what I remember from the event, they met less than a year ago, where the idea for Nourish was started. Since then, they’ve developed a wellness brand that is based on the elements of her: body soul wealth community You already know I’m a little snarky, even…

Race Recap: Sacramento Giant Race, 5k

Same race, same sissy’s, different year. I’ve been putting off writing this recap because honestly, it’s going to be basically the same as the ones I’ve written before 2018, 2017, and 2016. Well, besides the inaugural race (2016), they are pretty much the same. This year they updated the course slightly, which I’ll go over later. Other than that, it was business as usual for our hometown race under the Giants race series. Oh, one thing to note is that after three years they finally updated the race title to fit within the Giant race series a little more cohesively. It is no longer called the Riverfront race. I guess…

    Musings: Boudoir Behavior

My future husband is pretty damn lucky! To write this, I have to openly admit some judgment I am not too proud of. When a friend told me she was doing a boudoir shoot, I thought it was a little odd that she’d spend money and given them to no one. Well, that was my initial (re: ignorant) thought. Then I realized it was just for her. I thought it was a little non-fiscally fit, but the work-in-progress me knows this unfair judgment is unnecessary. I have no right to judge her actions, they do not affect me. I told, her of course, I supported it and I still thought…

    Musings: Clothing Optional

That’s just the kind of Ride or Dies we are! We’ll kinda. HAHA! Instead of gifts, we chose adventures. Gifts are great, but after over a decade of friendship, we’ve gotten each other most of the good stuff already. So, instead, we chose to spend time doing fun things AND usually eating too! 2018 would be no different, in a couple of ways. We knew there would be adventure AND it would be planned after the new year. While December is ideal, it really isn’t with holidays, work functions, and being busy in general. So, we opted for January when most events and obligations die down and our schedules align.…

    Musings: Full Moon Hike #OptOutside

Freezing bliss for a moonlit hike adventure. Are you a fan of co-ops? I am. Have been since I’ve worked at one and regularly shop at one. It made sends to become one with REI too. I didn’t even realize they were a co-op until more recently. And, you only have to pay $20 to be a member AND they give you a $20 gift card in return…you just have to wait one day to use it. It’s a win-win for everyone. All that being said, I’ve always swooned over thier #OptOutside campaing during Black Friday. But it seems as if they have extended past just that day and it…

Musings: My FIRST Best of Sacramento Party

I love my city! I’m pretty sure you know that by now, but just in case you didn’t…I had to say it AGAIN! We have a local publication, Sacramento Magazine, that has been around forever. Poppa Bear has been a subscriber forever. I always love paging through the magazine at their house or anywhere really. This magazine releases a Best of Sac list every year and then they host an event to showcase the winners, which raises money for a specific charity. Year after year, I’ve seen all the event photos and heard about the event. I was always too cheap to buy a ticket. And sadly, was never offered…

    Musings: Winter WINEland 2018

Say you’ll be wine… It’s a little too early to say this was an early Valentine’s Day celebration, but I’m going with it — cause it works well for this post! Last year, we experienced the Lodi Wine & Chocolate weekend. This was the weekend prior to Valentine’s Day. This year, we celebrated a month early and wandered through the Winter Wineland event, put on my Wine Road, which is in the Russian River Valley area. To be honest, I had nothing to do with planning this on our calendar. Our general house rule is if you add an event to our shared calendar (thanks, iPhone life) and there isn’t already…

Musings: It Isn’t Fall Without Apple Hill

Do you have Fall traditions?! If you live in or near Sacramento, I’m sure you travel to Apple Hill at least once a year. If you’re lucky (and brave), you go more. What is Apple Hill, you may ask? It’s rolling hills of apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and Christmas tree farms in Camino, California. Home of apple fritters the size of your face and an endless supply of apple donuts and apple cider. Among other things…such as arts and crafts for sale, homemade everything, and a classic Fall day with family and/or friends. It’s basically a Fall staple for any Northern Californian. From Sacramento, it’s only about a 45 minute drive…on a good day. I could…

City Girl Hikes: Alamere Falls – Bolinas, CA

This City girl seeks nature from time to time! Since we haven’t done a hike since last summer AND we finally had a free weekend with nothing on the calendar, I told J we were hiking! HAHA! Well, I really said I needed a hike in my life. He obliged and we asked our friends Melanie & Alex to join us, as they had for last summers hike! We almost canceled the hike with Outside Lands and the freeway repair, we thought the freeway would be a mess. Just to get to the hike is a little over two hours. Add traffic and we’d be stuck in the car all…
