City Girl Hikes: John Bull Loop Trail – Amador, CA

When the drive to the hike is cooler than the hike… Whomp! Whomp! Okay, that might be a tad exaggerated, but I was able to drive over the Pardee Dam. I thought it was pretty cool, even though it’s a one-lane dam, monitored by a stoplight. Which means I am entrusting others to pay attention to the light they are supposed to be stopped at. I only knew about Pardee because a friend had gone fishing here and said it was pretty. So, I saw it on AllTrails and I figured why not give it a go. But in my attempt to plan this, I visited the East Bay Municipal…

City Girl Hikes: Gates Canyon – Vacaville, CA

Sometimes you sign up for a hike knowing its gonna be rough… I hike for the variety in my workouts, but the views and scenery are usually picturesque. Which obviously means I have some good IG content. I’ve enjoyed sharing my solo hiking adventures since it was a goal I accomplished. But, since hiking lends itself well to social distancing, I’ve had friends share an interest in joining me. And if you know me, you know I love doing things with friends (versus solo). All that being said, Ambriss joined me for the Gates Canyon hike. We knew it was an out and back, which included all up-hill out and…

City Girl Hikes: Skyline Wilderness Park Loop – Napa, CA

HARD (rating) is always relative… If you aren’t familiar with the AllTrails app, they have a trail rating system. They rate the difficulty from easy, moderate, to hard. In addition, they also have a five-star rating, based on the users perception of liking or disliking the hike. I titled this as the Skyline Wilderness Park Loop because the actual title is really intense – Skyline Trail, Thatcher’s Rim Rock Trail, and Lake Marie Road Loop. I chose this trail because it was a loop and the listed distance of 7 miles. This was officially my second solo hike, since the previous hike I met a new hiking friend and she…

City Girl Hikes: Conn Peak & Shoreline Trail – St. Helena, CA

Sometimes you make a hiking friend on a solo hike. I set out for my second solo hike, relying on the parking attendants’ directions on where to start the trail. You enter Moore Creek Park, pass one residential home, and then find the parking lot. About a quarter of a way into the first trail I chose, I ran into a girl coming toward me. I asked her if I was headed the right way and she told me ‘no,’ but she was also looking for the same trailhead. So, we essentially became friends from then on. HAHA! Neither of us was trying out hike the other, to add space…

City Girl Hikes [SOLO]: Stevens Trail – Colfax, CA

It just took a pandemic for me to take a solo hike. To be fair, I’d set this goal for 2020. And the pandemic lent itself easily to accomplish this goal. On a whim, about two days before I hiked, I kinda committed to myself to do the hike. My friend, Haley, is an experienced hiker so I asked her, for the fifteenth time, for a recommendation on where I should hike. She sent me, for probably the fifth time, the Stevens Trail link via AllTrails. This hike was ideal because it is less than an hour away from my house, which was one of my ultimate criteria. Probably, actually…

Race Recap: lululemon San Diego 10k

Only lululemon could get me on a plane to run a 10k. So pardon the delay on this race recap, but I’m glad I’m getting to it before the year ends. 2019 was supposed to ONLY be the Giant Race series, but once I received the email about this race, I knew I had to at least think about it. It definitely prompted a text to my running friend, Tara. Actually, I threw the idea of running the race as a girl’s trip to a couple of people. In the end, it was Tara and I who would make it a girl’s weekend, which was totally great for me. We’d…

Cali Girl Does San Diego: Girls Long Weekend

Four days in sunny SD bliss! Lil had to head down to SD for a wedding, so she asked if I wanted to make a fun weekend out of it. Uh, yeah, duh! Then I invited Monique too, so it became round two of our Disneyland trip in March for my birthday. I crowdsourced FB for recommendations and everyone came in clutch. I saved all the reccos in my Yelp Stay Classy SD collection of places to visit, things to do, and places to eat! I thought I’d share what and where we ate but also places we visited: Snooze, An A.M. Eatery – breakfast pot pie and coffeeSan Diego…

    Musings: Nourish

A full day of wellness you say… Sure, sign me up. Thanks to Erica, of Fit Crawl, I was gifted a ticket for myself and Ambriss to attend the inaugural Nourish wellness event in Sacramento, CA. Two women, Amber Rosen & Sarah Stebbins, created Nourish to ‘…empower you with the knowledge and tools to support your wellbeing on a consistent, daily basis.’ From what I remember from the event, they met less than a year ago, where the idea for Nourish was started. Since then, they’ve developed a wellness brand that is based on the elements of her: body soul wealth community You already know I’m a little snarky, even…

Race Recap: Sacramento Giant Race, 5k

Same race, same sissy’s, different year. I’ve been putting off writing this recap because honestly, it’s going to be basically the same as the ones I’ve written before 2018, 2017, and 2016. Well, besides the inaugural race (2016), they are pretty much the same. This year they updated the course slightly, which I’ll go over later. Other than that, it was business as usual for our hometown race under the Giants race series. Oh, one thing to note is that after three years they finally updated the race title to fit within the Giant race series a little more cohesively. It is no longer called the Riverfront race. I guess…

    Musings: Boudoir Behavior

My future husband is pretty damn lucky! To write this, I have to openly admit some judgment I am not too proud of. When a friend told me she was doing a boudoir shoot, I thought it was a little odd that she’d spend money and given them to no one. Well, that was my initial (re: ignorant) thought. Then I realized it was just for her. I thought it was a little non-fiscally fit, but the work-in-progress me knows this unfair judgment is unnecessary. I have no right to judge her actions, they do not affect me. I told, her of course, I supported it and I still thought…
