    Musings: Verbal Download

    I haven’t done a purging of thoughts in a while, so here I am. Buckle up and get ready for the randomness train… Food Musings – Do men think about their bodies and food as much as women? This was a question I’ve posed to a few friends. Of course, the immediate answer is no. We’ve come to the conclusion that men don’t sit idle thinking about their weight, their body, and their food intake. I’m sure it passes through their consciousness, but they don’t dwell as women do. It’s almost as if I am re-programming myself to have positive thoughts about food. Why do we call food ‘bad?’ Why…

    Musings: The Elusive Black Badge

    Wait…you don’t know what I’m talking about?!? Badge, not the card! Does anyone even care about the AMEX black card anymore, anyways? I digress. I’ve been Yelping for N I N E years! Holy shit! That is a lot of time writing reviews. Anything from Khol’s to the newest restaurant to pop up in Sacramento. Yes, you read that correctly. I’ve Yelped Khol’s, among a slew of other things. At the end of each year, I nominate myself for another year of Yelp elitness. Yes, Yelp allows and encourages you to nominate yourself each year. And so I do, with no shame. To think, this all started as a bet…

    Musings: My FIRST Best of Sacramento Party

    I love my city! I’m pretty sure you know that by now, but just in case you didn’t…I had to say it AGAIN! We have a local publication, Sacramento Magazine, that has been around forever. Poppa Bear has been a subscriber forever. I always love paging through the magazine at their house or anywhere really. This magazine releases a Best of Sac list every year and then they host an event to showcase the winners, which raises money for a specific charity. Year after year, I’ve seen all the event photos and heard about the event. I was always too cheap to buy a ticket. And sadly, was never offered…

    Musings: Unicorn (Frappuccinos) Are Real

    You know I had to see what the hype was about! No, you don’t need to call me basic. Don’t even get me started on how I canNOT stand that word and its usage. Shows how much is wrong with our generation of judgy, narcissist humans walking around thinking its okay to throw judgment like confetti. And YES, I’m hella judgemental too, but I’ve learned to check myself and question why I’m being that way! And while we’re at it, stop food shaming people. This term is accurate, yet a little exaggerated for this situation. But really, let people try something that looks cool to them. Let people not wan…

    THANKSgiving 2016

    Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. – William Arthur Ward It’s pretty hard not to be reminded of the essence of tomorrow, Thanksgiving! More than anything lately, remembering to be grateful and thankful for every single thing has help me stay grounded, sane, and be accepting of plenty of things I can and cannot change. So, to be as cliche as possible I’m going to put my “THANKS” out into the Interwebs. Tomorrow, I hope to enjoy each moment with family, friends, and good food — all the important Fs in one’s life! I am thankful for… New Family Dynamics //…

    Diary of a Non-Cook: Homemade Cracker Barrel Hashbrown Casserole

    I can’t show up empty handed to Girl’s Night! I mean, I can and no one would bat an eye. But that’s RUDE! The first Girls Night of 2016 started of at Summer Sister’s house with a breakfast theme. I wanted to try to make something, instead of just curating something. Is this considered cooking? It’s basically curating. Maybe we’ll call it half-cooking. Of course, I went to trusty ‘ol Pinterest. As much as I wrote about how I detest it, it really comes in handy for a variety of facets of life. Especially when I need help with something, other times it just a time suck! I was going…

    3 6 5 Days

    …of not eating Fast Food. I don’t want accolades. But J sure does.  I will give him his kudos and accolades, but I still don’t need them. I’m an “all in or out” type of girl, which isn’t new. I don’t do good with moderation, probably another 2016 goal that should be worked on. That being said, food, especially Fast Food, (FF here on out) is no exception. I have done this before, J has not. The first time I did this, I went one year. The second time I did it, it was two years, now I believe this was my third time and I did it for one year (again)…

    Girls Night – A Year in Review {2015}

    Our Girls Nights > Yours That sounds a little cocky, but I believe it. On Thursday night, after everyone had left besides Care and the Lovebug, I sat on the couch watching him jump around and felt a cloud of happiness and contentment settle over me. I absolutely LOVE hosting December girls night. It forces me to have my decorating done the weekend after Thanksgiving, because I know all the girls will be over. But this is also my favorite time of the year and I love to see so many amazing humans in my house, happy, loud, and laughing! I thought I’d take a look back at the last…

    Guest Post – A Decision that Changed My Life

    My FIRST guest post, ever! I’m kinda excited, I hope you enjoy it! A few months back, I gave you a quick preview of my idea in a post. Well, I’ve been sitting on this nugget for a while. I met Trinity back in the early 2000’s while working together, we’ve pretty much followed each other from job to job through a decade and a half of knowing each other. However, she’s become much more than a friend to me, but more so one of my unbiological sisters. Her, along with the Bestest, and I make up our little Ride or Die clique and I admire her for so many…

    Musings: Solidarity

    Momma Bear has been on a mission. And of course, her highly skeptical daughter (re: me) had something to say about it. When she initially told us she committed to the local Results 20 lb challenge, I scoffed. Then she said she was forced to do two challenges, I was pissed. In retrospect I still don’t care for the way Results runs their business. I’ve also heard some unsavory things about the owners, but there are always two sides to every story. However, they are the push that Momma needed. They are helping her, motivating her, and guiding her to a healthier lifestyle — even if I think they are…
