    Musings: Clothing Optional

That’s just the kind of Ride or Dies we are! We’ll kinda. HAHA! Instead of gifts, we chose adventures. Gifts are great, but after over a decade of friendship, we’ve gotten each other most of the good stuff already. So, instead, we chose to spend time doing fun things AND usually eating too! 2018 would be no different, in a couple of ways. We knew there would be adventure AND it would be planned after the new year. While December is ideal, it really isn’t with holidays, work functions, and being busy in general. So, we opted for January when most events and obligations die down and our schedules align.…

City Girl Hikes: Alamere Falls – Bolinas, CA

This City girl seeks nature from time to time! Since we haven’t done a hike since last summer AND we finally had a free weekend with nothing on the calendar, I told J we were hiking! HAHA! Well, I really said I needed a hike in my life. He obliged and we asked our friends Melanie & Alex to join us, as they had for last summers hike! We almost canceled the hike with Outside Lands and the freeway repair, we thought the freeway would be a mess. Just to get to the hike is a little over two hours. Add traffic and we’d be stuck in the car all…

Musings: Every Summer Has a Story…

2016  was the Summer of polarizing emotions, feelings, and life. More than anything, emotionally this was the hardest Summer I’ve ever experienced. Within the depths of deep sadness and anger, were moments of fun, travel, and good food. All culminated with happiness, but to get here was a struggle. I’m pretty sure I came across the saying “Every Summer Has a Story,” as I was scrolling through Pinterest one day. It stuck with me. It rings so true. Even as an adult, I still live for summers. Bikini’s, tans, vacations, and watermelon — summer is my favorite season, even in the sweltering Sacramento heat. Last year I wrote a post…

City Girl Hikes: Lake Clementine Trail – Auburn, CA

Kinda like a staycation… …but, NOT! I thought I had more posts specific about various hikes, but I guess I don’t. But I’m adding to my series I’ve dubbed “City Girl Hikes”: City Girl Hikes: Mission Peak – Fremont, CA   Auburn is only a short 30 to 45-minute drive from probably anywhere in Sacramento. So, it makes for a great place to get outdoors and have some fun. Mostly Auburn has been synonymous with trail running for me. Many races in the hard hills of Auburn, CA have been raced but never hiked (even though it felt like that during most races). I knew it had plenty of trails,…

City Girl Hikes: Mission Peak – Fremont, CA

Oh, that hike with the pole! Yup, Mission Peak! The hike that is known specifically for the photo op at the top. A pole. A dang coveted pole picture as your prize at the end of the hike, well before you have to come back down, of course. It’s officially called the Mission Peak Regional Preserve and is located in Fremont, CA. Prior to my first hike at Mission Peak, it was always on the little list of local (by local, I mean Northern California) hikes to do, which I created and stored in my head. I’ve always seen pics of people on top of the pole, with a gorgeous…

    Rose & Thorn [49]

4th Annual Girls Hiking Weekend! Rose: An overwhelming feeling of peace at Cascade Falls! Thorn: Losing $20 in less than 30 seconds during my first Black Jack experience! It all started with Yosemite and Half Dome, and we haven’t looked back. This year makes it our 4th #AnnualGirlsHikingWeekend with the same-ish group of women, we seem to add more each year. You can peep last year’s trip right here. Each year brings new adventures and craziness, but our friendship, laughs, and happiness are always a constant! Friday Of course I didn’t pack, I’m so bad at this lately. I left work a little early to go home, change, and pack…

Just because I’m grown doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy Spring Break… The merry-go-round continues and brings us back to  Arman @ The Big Man’s World ! As always, peep Jenn’s blog to see where it all started and how to join the partay! It never really bugged me that I didn’t get a spring break anymore, even though I’d see plenty of friend’s and their kids enjoying this week, year after year. Well, that was until J and L both had one and I felt left out. So during their SB, I took Wednesday off to celebrate my faux Spring Break! So here is WIA(last)W! Breakfast We didn’t set an…

Thinking Out Loud – Musings Para Mi

Renewed, straight into busy… Amanda at .RUNNING WITH SPOONS. Oddly, it doesn’t feel at all weird that I took yesterday off – from blogging and work. I did think about the WIAW post that would have normally gone up, but I didn’t feel a huge desire to run and write one before I enjoyed my day. So, I didn’t. It was nice to have a mid-week break, I feel renewed, although work is busy. Tradeshow season is upon us! Spring Break // I miss them. I miss that free week of nothing to do during the first part of Spring. Apparently when you have kids, you don’t miss it as…

Thinking Out Loud – Hawaii Edition

Back on that grind… Amanda at .RUNNING WITH SPOONS. I thought I’d just verbally spew some stuff from my recent trip to Hawaii and whatnot… Sunsets – I never take the time to watch the sunset in Sacramento, but I feel like when you’re in Hawaii and it’s setting over the beautiful ocean, its a must. It was definitely a trip of relaxation, so we were in no hurry to leave the beach when the sun was setting. It was a perfect way to end our days at the beach. Plus the views are worth more than anything you can buy or picture you can take. It was so relaxing…

    Rose & Thorn [14]

It hurts so good… Rose: Obviously my Annual Girls Hiking Trip that went down this weekend, duh! Thorn: Being bloated after everything I ate all weekend and the California Drought! Once a year, a group of us girls get together to go on a hiking adventure. Our first ever was to hike Half Dome at Yosemite, then it was on to Burney Falls and Mt. Lassen. This year we kept it city folk-ish and stayed close to home. Originally we had planned to head to Lake Tahoe for the bagillion hikes up there, but after we heard Tough Mudder was going down this weekend, we made a last minute change…
