    Musings: Full Moon Hike #OptOutside

Freezing bliss for a moonlit hike adventure. Are you a fan of co-ops? I am. Have been since I’ve worked at one and regularly shop at one. It made sends to become one with REI too. I didn’t even realize they were a co-op until more recently. And, you only have to pay $20 to be a member AND they give you a $20 gift card in return…you just have to wait one day to use it. It’s a win-win for everyone. All that being said, I’ve always swooned over thier #OptOutside campaing during Black Friday. But it seems as if they have extended past just that day and it…

    Musings: Gung Hay Fat Choy

It’s our year, Pigs! Or boars, which ever you prefer. This half-Chinese, half-Filipino gal is wishing you and yours a wonderful and prosperous new year! I feel a need or desire to educate those who come to my space about this holiday. I’ve done it every year, for the past handful of years. So, I don’t think I’ll go into all those details. Rather, I wanted to share some of the Pig characteristics, becuase so many of my friends were born in the same year as I, thus we are all PIGS together! Do you ever read something, such as your astrolgical sign or your zodica animal, and sit there…

Diary of a Non-Cook: The EASIEST Appetizer Ever

Well Christmas came and went like a whirlwind. And as per the usu, I was tasked with an appetizer for our big celebration. I really should ask for dessert, since I can never get there on time. But, it makes the suspense that much more exciting for everyone 😉 Happily, I was done with most of my Christmas stuff a week or so-ish before the big day. Little things here and there, but nothing like the last few years of stress and more stress. Easy and light, just how the holidays should be. But I didn’t really feel like making an extravagant appetizer, so I ran to Pinterest and found…

    Musings: Traditions Evolve

I am very much a traditionalist. I love traditions. I use them as a way to honor those who have left us. But also, my type A enjoys the routine and normalcy of traditions. With a mixture of both desires, I am extremely happy living out traditions, especially during the Holidays. They definitely have evolved over the years, but they seem to be pretty consistent these days. Traditions have a special way of keeping our favorite memories alive, but their permanence can be an illusion at times too. My point in writing this is because, after the breakup, I’ve had to take a whole different approach to traditions and also change.…

    Musings: Some-Bunny Special

Let’s get crafty! But in the least amount of time and money type of craft…if you get my drift. I love to craft, but my schedule doesn’t permit extreme crafting. So I tend to craft on the fly. Maybe with a little inspo from a pin here or there, but mostly I just make them up as I go. Last year, I shared Musings: Boycott Easter Candy. Sounds kind of negative, but really it was just a way for me to avoid giving lovebugs more candy when they get tons of eggs (dare I say close to 75/each) full of candy and some money. It was a fun way to give…

The New Tradition: A Christmas Adventure

What do you get a kid who has pretty much everything? Okay, none of us are rich (by any means), but the kid literally has most everything she wants or needs. She still has presents that haven’t been opened from her birthday four months ago. I don’t think she needs more presents, well not from us at least. Having a blended family, means you get more than one of every occasion, for the most part – Christmas and Birthday to be exact. Well, that is, unless the parents can throw a joint party together, then you can combine the events. But in our case, we can’t, so we don’t! There…

    Festivus..or Nahhh…

…for the rest of us! via Oh how ironic today I chose to write a sweet, quick little holiday post..AND then I realized it was Festivus, which comes along with the “airing of grievances”! And that would be the best, seeing as how shitty 2016 has really been..with some very highs though too! Anywho, I digress. Damn you Seinfeld, you are pretty amazing with your splendid observational humor. Not gonna lie, a Festivus blog post would be amazing to write, but also probably too offensive for me to air my actual grievances in real life. That’s what J and friends are for 😉 HAHA Really, I came to this space,…

    Annual Cookie Party

Established in 1987. So, I can’t really take credit for this cool, annual event…but I’ve been in attendance for a pretty damn long time. Technically she’s my 2nd cousin, but she feels more like an older sister. We call her Joy, but she goes by Clem to those who went to school with her. It is her and her group of girlfriends who took Lil and I in and let us be a part of their holiday FUNstivities since we were really little.   From gallivanting up to Apple Hill to cut down Christmas trees to the annual cookie party, these women have been in our lives for a long…

A Surprise Adventure with River City Rickshaw

Christmas lights are magical… …which is why everyone loves to find the best court/street decorated to the 9’s. If you live in Sacramento, then you know about a few things: 1. The Fab 40’s are gorgeous in themselves, but even more so during the Holidays, 2. Don’t drive during them at night, it’s worse than any freeway traffic on a holiday, and 3. Get your butt over there, somehow, someway to see their hard work glowing and illuminating their gorgeous yards and homes! I’m a lazy human and I’ve always been one to employ the likes of others to get me from A to B. I love, love, love that…

Good Riddance, Linda! – Week 4

Ok, that’s a little harsh! I know, but I’m glad the last week is over. Linda is tucked away safely in her packaging, which I won’t let L ever find again. The packaging, not Linda. A friend does her EOTS for the “12 Days of Chritmas,” which I’m thinking is a great idea. Since behaviors aren’t an issue for us, Linda isn’t as necessary as it is in some homes.  Who knows?! If L still shows this much enthusiasm, whom am I to rain on her happiness?! I’m not, we’ll do it again…I can’t help but love the smile, light in her eyes, and genuine happiness she gets from that…
