    Cali Girl Does New York

Work was calling, so I went. I have always wanted to go to New York. The glitz, the glam, the “City that Never Sleeps.” Let’s not forget about my beloved SATC too, even though Girls Gotta Eat has me rethinking my love for those ladies! Every year there are two large tradeshows for my new(ish) industry, one on the east coast and one on the west coast. Last year I was too new to venture out East, but this year I was for sure going. So I went. I knew my adventure time was limited and I tried to remind myself that I should be grateful for any time in…

Musings: Stop Calling it the Break Up Diet

I’ve always joked about it….we all joke about it… But I need to stop. I think everyone should stop. It happened with my first break up in 2005. I lost some weight, cried some, and did not know how to handle my sadness of ending a six-year relationship with my first, young love. I chose to use partying to hide anything I was feeling, but I could because I was 300+ miles away from the culprit and most of my support system too. I was too young and probably immature to realize there might have been a mental health issue attached to the breakup. As cliche as it is, I…

    Thanks, 2016 — Hellllo 2017!

Nope, never, nada… I don’t do resolutions! Resolutions are so finite. They seem demanding and almost as if they set (every)one up for failure. Resolution – a firm decision to do or not do something (Google definition). I’m sure I’ve spoke about my opinion on NY reso’s, but that does not mean I judge anyone for making or working toward their own. They just aren’t for me. This year — 2 0 1 7 — I wanted to set some goals. I guess one may call them resolutions, but I sure as hell wouldn’t. I wanted to write some things down and hold myself accountable. I have also envisioned myself…

Five Things Friday – Like It’s Supposed to Be

“Go take a Napa, you don’t move to Napa!” Thanks, Clare! Guess that movie? Obviously, if you don’t get it, then maybe we aren’t that good of friends! HAHA, just kidding, of course. Mr. Big, always breaking Carrie’s heart! I digress. I’m excited to get out of town this weekend and enjoy Napa, enjoy it so much I’m even going to run through 26.2 miles of it – well that’s the plan anyways! But you already know this so I’m going to keep it simple and follow Clare’s style for Five Things Friday! Five Things I Ate: 1. La Fiesta Cheese Enchiladas – these have been my go to during…

Thinking Out Loud – The Love Edition

T-minus 2 days to lovah’s day, y’all! Amanda at .RUNNING WITH SPOONS. I definitely am, and always have been, a huge proponent of Valentine’s Day. I think celebrating love is an amazing thing. Yes, it is very over commercialized. Yes, I love being sent flowers. Yes, chocolate tastes good. Yes, a fancy dinner with your boo thang is lovely. But I was also single for about 9 Valentine’s Day’s in a row. I still loved the day. I didn’t have anyone sending me flowers or sweet love notes, but I still loved watching everyone else celebrate the love they had in their lives. Two years ago my parents did the…
