Musings: Snail Mail Writing Kit for LoveBugs

Kids have it ALL these days. They’ll never know what it was like to spend hours on a landline talking to friends, or God forbid…your secret crush. They won’t know about having to use a pay phone to call your parents to pick you up from the mall at a very specific time and location. They won’t know a world without YouTube, where you have to sit at your stereo (what’s that, even?) and hit record at the exact moment you hear your fave song start to play. Also, I guess, they could care less about running to check the mail each day. Nothing in that weird box is for…

    Musings: Some-Bunny Special

Let’s get crafty! But in the least amount of time and money type of craft…if you get my drift. I love to craft, but my schedule doesn’t permit extreme crafting. So I tend to craft on the fly. Maybe with a little inspo from a pin here or there, but mostly I just make them up as I go. Last year, I shared Musings: Boycott Easter Candy. Sounds kind of negative, but really it was just a way for me to avoid giving lovebugs more candy when they get tons of eggs (dare I say close to 75/each) full of candy and some money. It was a fun way to give…

Diary of a Non-Cook: Mexican Food + Pinterest

Oh, of course my creations are via Pinterest.Does that even surprise you these days? I was perusing Pinterest for some cooking inspiration and I thought to look at older pins, which of course I had never tried. Lo and behold, I found a good pin: 5-Ingredient Slow Cooker Steak Fajitas! I then got bold and decided we couldn’t have fajitas without Spanish Rice (it is ignorantly labeled Mexican Rice by the creator) so I found a recipe (re: pin) for that too. It was just going to be dinner for J and I, but the crockpot makes so much I decided to invite Care and her lil fellas over for…

    3 Day Sabbatical

Better late than never, right… I’m already finishing the third week of my new job. Surprise! I got a new job. I wanted to do a post about leaving my job at the Nut House and how I was excited to start something new. But then I figured I better wait until I actually start the new job before I blog about it. Then, the next thing you know, my first week was done and it was a crazy, busy and here we are NOW! Three weeks in and excited…and being challenged in a great way. It’s not like you walk around talking about looking for a new job. But those that I vent to…

    Coffee Date – Adios May

Lordy, lordy…it’s already June! Hi! I feel like I’ve been scarce around here lately, but for good reason. Life’s curve balls have been pretty crazy the last month, so I thought I’d just breeze through the last 31 days, as if we were sitting in your/my fave coffee shop and chatting. First off, I hope your May was lovely, challenging, and fun OR whatever you needed it to be. Did anything exciting happen, did you complete any goals, did you eat any new food? I could sit here for awhile and ask you questions about your May. I love asking questions…always have, always will. Lovebugs // A new Love Bug…

    Musings: Boycott Easter Candy

Okay, I’m not Bummer Bunny or anything… …but I feel like every year all the kids in our families and L receive tons of candy for Easter. To change it up this year, I decided to gift something else. I’m sure I’m not the first person to do this, so I’m NOT claiming rights to my crafty idea, but I thought I’d share what I am giving to the Lovebugs this year. I decided that books were a great gift for the kidlets. Yes, they’d love candy way more than that. I want something better than five seconds of gratification — AND I know that others will gift candy, so…

    Annual Cookie Party

Established in 1987. So, I can’t really take credit for this cool, annual event…but I’ve been in attendance for a pretty damn long time. Technically she’s my 2nd cousin, but she feels more like an older sister. We call her Joy, but she goes by Clem to those who went to school with her. It is her and her group of girlfriends who took Lil and I in and let us be a part of their holiday FUNstivities since we were really little.   From gallivanting up to Apple Hill to cut down Christmas trees to the annual cookie party, these women have been in our lives for a long…

    Musings: Woe is 33

Or Me! Life at 33…is about the same as life at 32 😉 I’d love to sit here and tell you how amazing and exciting my birthday weekend was, but it really wasn’t. Please don’t mistake this for me being upset or sad about my birthday, AT ALL! I must preface with, I’ve celebrated my birthday in larger fashion for most of the last two decades. This is honestly the first year I didn’t do anything on what I’d deem a larger scale – no wine tasting trip, no trip to AZ, not even a night out at a club with dinner.  Birthday eve was a nice little girls night…

    Diary of A Non-Cook: Biscuits & Gravy

Pioneer Woman, I see you. Image via Food Network Well, really, Pinterest saw you first, then I followed soon there after. Have you heard of her? Is she like Paula Deen? Does she thrive off butter? Why is her name so old school? These are some of the random thoughts I had when I originally heard about her. I’ve perused through her cookbook and recipes, but I never thought to commit to one. Let’s start from the beginning. A month or two ago I was at Costco and tried a sample, it was delicious. It was a biscuit. I didn’t think anything of it, until I was looking for eggs…

Good Riddance, Linda! – Week 4

Ok, that’s a little harsh! I know, but I’m glad the last week is over. Linda is tucked away safely in her packaging, which I won’t let L ever find again. The packaging, not Linda. A friend does her EOTS for the “12 Days of Chritmas,” which I’m thinking is a great idea. Since behaviors aren’t an issue for us, Linda isn’t as necessary as it is in some homes.  Who knows?! If L still shows this much enthusiasm, whom am I to rain on her happiness?! I’m not, we’ll do it again…I can’t help but love the smile, light in her eyes, and genuine happiness she gets from that…
