Race Recap: Sacramento Giant Race, 5k

Same race, same sissy’s, different year. I’ve been putting off writing this recap because honestly, it’s going to be basically the same as the ones I’ve written before 2018, 2017, and 2016. Well, besides the inaugural race (2016), they are pretty much the same. This year they updated the course slightly, which I’ll go over later. Other than that, it was business as usual for our hometown race under the Giants race series. Oh, one thing to note is that after three years they finally updated the race title to fit within the Giant race series a little more cohesively. It is no longer called the Riverfront race. I guess…

Race Recap: 2019 Annual Race for Justice

When race day lands on National Bagel Day! I’ve said it plenty of times, but this race is one of Sacramento’s best-hidden gem for the running community! The ease of parking, the minimal participants, the hills, and the gorgeous homes all make this one of my favorite runs offered in our city! Oh and it celebrates love, which I love! I didn’t realize this was the 16th year of this race. I’ve done it a bunch, but not sixteen years worth. It always cracks me up that this race is associated with lawyers/attorneys. Love and law don’t seem to equate to me, but hey, it works! As every year goes,…

Race Recap: Girls On The Run Greater Sacramento 5k

Our first 5k together! I was finally able to support Girls On The Run (GOTR) again! I’ve been meaning to forever, but their race dates never seemed to sync up with my schedule. I have done one of their races before, but we didn’t sign up for the actual intent of supporting GOTR. It was when we committed to doing a 5k/month and the GOTR Fall race fit in all of our schedules. I remember it was a cool, foggy morning in East Sac for us! Also, I’ve interacted with the woman who runs the Greater Sacramento chapter and she’s really sweet — even though she didn’t hire me for…

Race Recap: San Jose Giants Race

I Turn(ed) Two in San Jose… …but even more excited to become a Triple Bagger in September! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, let’s rejoice in the five miles that is the San Jose Giant Race. I’ve raved about this race since the first time I ran it, although no recap since I was just starting to blog then. I love the randomness of the course — city streets, up a rolling grassy hill, through a cool zoo, and finishing on an actual field (not a warning track)! All of that on a lovely Saturday morning (wishing it was a Sunday morning) with one of my fave running partners!…

Cali Girl Does Seattle – Canada, Really…

Let’s go to Canada, eh! Using my passport makes me giddy… As our trip was approaching, I’d been doing minimal research and came across the idea to go to Canada. Victoria, BC to be specific. Apparently people tend to do it often for two reason: 1) It’s not too expensive, 2) It’s not to far by ferry. I looked into various ways to go, however the state run ferry website was confusing and I think it’s more to move cars from location to location, not humans. I ended up booking our trip with Clipper Vacations. They had an on-line deal, because we were visiting in the off season, we were able…

    Musings: Woe is 33

Or Me! Life at 33…is about the same as life at 32 😉 I’d love to sit here and tell you how amazing and exciting my birthday weekend was, but it really wasn’t. Please don’t mistake this for me being upset or sad about my birthday, AT ALL! I must preface with, I’ve celebrated my birthday in larger fashion for most of the last two decades. This is honestly the first year I didn’t do anything on what I’d deem a larger scale – no wine tasting trip, no trip to AZ, not even a night out at a club with dinner.  Birthday eve was a nice little girls night…

Race Recap: The Giant Race 10k

My team > Your team Via Just sayin’! It’s only the sixth annual SF Giant Race. It seems like it’s been around longer than that, but I guess my time perception is always off. I think it is amazing that the SF Giants put together three different fun runs for their organization and farm teams (Scottsdale, San Jose, and SF). That being said, I cannot believe this is my first race recap for this race, even though I’ve been running it for a few years now (missed 2013 & 2014). I’m also wishing and praying that now that the Sacramento Rivercats are their AAA team, maybe they’ll think of hosting…

    Musings: Yoga for a Non-Yogi

The (Yogi) struggle is real! Via Just like anything good for you…it’s hard, but worth it…right?! I fell in love with Bikram yoga over ten years ago. Then I stopped going. I tried it again about four years ago and hated it. In between that large time gap, I took a few classes, here and there, at 24 hour and various places – just basic yoga. I know it’s benefits and that it’s good for someone who lifts and runs, but I find it hard to get my booty to a class. Even more harder to invest monies into a membership at a yoga studio, let alone a drop-in rate.…

    Rose & Thorn [48]

It was all about the Momma’s…Momma’s…Momma’s…. Rose: Mother’s Day! I love my Momma! Thorn: The most poorly run Race for the Cure in Sacramento, what a disappointment! I’m really keeping it short this week, like really! Friday Right after work I went straight to the mall to pick up our packets for the Race for the Cure, however, it wasn’t at the mall. But, I didn’t really care because the Guidette was meeting me there for coffee and shopping (re: 10,000 returns for her). I took her on her first trip to Lulu, it was amazing…she’s forever changed. Shopping is my cardio, iced coffee is my fuel! A little lulu…
