    Musings: I’m in a Relationship

As the sun was setting, gazing at the most beautiful views of a cotton candy colored sky, I realized something. Something so profound, everything made so much sense at that moment. The clarity was almost too much for me to wrap my brain around. But with each stride, I fell into a clearness that once seemed so unreachable and far away. Finally, my first run of the year was simply, yet lucidly unraveling the jumbled thoughts and ideas I’ve had about running for a long time. Lately, running and I have had an extremely volatile relationship. To be fair, it has been volatile since I ran the Napa marathon in…

    Cinco de Ganeeban

Hey, remember me… No prob-llama, I haven’t gone anywhere! I’ve missed blogging and it missed me. I thought I’d write a quick post about life lately…so yeah! Night Date, because Date Night is so overused. Last night J and I used two gift cards (werk perk) that were expired, but they let me use them anyways. Gracias, Il Fo! We go to dinner, or should I say grab dinner to go, more often than not. So what makes this different? We actually made a resie (so I could earn Open Table points), sat at a table for two, and ordered a meal to enjoy together. No phones, just us chatting.…

    On to the Next Chapter…

Move over 2015, 2016 is making its way… Just being cliche with a year end post. Totes, obvi! HAHA! Okay, but for real. I’m a day early, but I was scrolling through IG for a little bit (I have way too many posts to look through the entire year) and I started remembering all the fun I had this year. Because, let’s be real, no one wants to post the bad and ugly stuff. I completely forgot I ran a freakin’ marathon this year! It was so ugly I pushed it out of my mind OR it happened in the beginning of the year and I just forgot. Either way,…

Thinking (Out Loud) About Another Year!

As of 1:59AM this morning I am 32 years old! Age has never been an issue for me. I love getting older and I am not one to ever cringe as another candle is added to my cake. I love the life experiences I get to add to my memory bank, year after year. Some years are better than others, but each year I walk away a different woman, ready to take on the next!  I don’t like to put expectations on a certain age, then I won’t end up disappointed if I don’t meet what I was hoping for. So when 31 brought me J and his little, shining…

Race Recap: Napa Valley Marathon 2015

The ‘make or break’ marathon… Everyone one says don’t decide if you like or dislike (re: hate) something only after doing it once. Or is that just for food? Anywho, I decided, after over a year sabbatical I’d attempt another marathon (CIM 2013 was my first). The lure of Napa was really a determining factor, but seeing if I was truly a ‘marathoner’ was also what sealed the deal approximately a year ago when I signed up for this race. Here we are a year later and my time to shine was here. Since the race was about an hour and fifteen minutes from Sac, we decided this would be…

Thinking Out Loud – A Not So Love Letter

Dear Napa Marathon, I had the grandest idea of falling in love with you. From the moment I went online to register with giddy and happy anticipation. Anticipation that stemmed from the notion that we must try things more than once, to see if we genuinely like or dislike it. I happily paid the exorbitant registration fee, anything more than $50 makes me cringe. The idea that I might be able to keep up with Steph Z. was another alluring factor. And it goes without saying, the fact that you have placed yourself in the luscious rolling hills of the land of the fruit that produces my happy juice, completely…

    Running in the 805

San. Luis. Obispo. I know I blog/tweet/FB your ear off about this lovely city, but I just can’t get enough of it! I’ll be there in a few, short months and I couldn’t be any more happier. Well, just a little bit since I get to share my favorite city with J.  In case anyone is interested in joining me running the SLO Marathon or Half Marathon there are a few important dates coming up! February 28th – Price INCREASE! Whomp! Whomp! We all know it happens, so be frugal and register before then. Additionally, I can save you another $10 off the full or half distance, so use my…

Five Things Friday – 2 Weeks Until Napa

…Marathon that is… Thanks, Clare! 2 weeks doesn’t sound like a long time…cause it isn’t! So thus, this post is dedicated to the 5 random thoughts going through my head as I prepare for the Napa Valley Marathon on March 1st. Or I should really say, my lack of preparation for the marathon… F@&% – What the hell am I really doing? Oh I know, just doing my long runs. While also running very, very sporadically during the week. So sporadic, it’s almost non-existent. I know I will finish all 26.2 miles, but how fast and effortlessly is another question. I envision some walking will be involved, even though it…

    Rose & Thorn [34]

Another weekend closer to Napa.. Rose: The infamous Bacon Burger from the Grange! Thorn: My heart… Sorry, this post is most likely going to lack my normal, grit and humor. The case of Monday’s has reared it’s ugly head… Friday  Another Friday Family Date Night after we picked up L. Again, we stayed in Folsom to avoid any traffic on the way home. Originally we had planned to eat at a local salad spot, but then J changed his mind and we ended up at a Hawaiian themed Chili’s, otherwise know as Islanders (I think). I’d been to this chain once, but never to this location. I didn’t really want…

    Training Mode

Not to be confused with anything remotely close to the annoying coined phrase ‘Beast Mode’! Running…Running…Running…Please stop reading if you don’t feel like being bombarded with another running-related post, partly running, and most likely partly whiny! Just another blog post in the life of #ganeeban26 ! Yes, I just hastagged in my post. I created that hashtag to track all of my first marathons posts and have continued with my second training cycle as well. I haven’t done a training update in awhile, so here it goes. If you are new to Musings of a Girly Tomboy, then you might not know I have signed up for two marathons: Napa…
