Race Recap: 2019 Annual Race for Justice

When race day lands on National Bagel Day! I’ve said it plenty of times, but this race is one of Sacramento’s best-hidden gem for the running community! The ease of parking, the minimal participants, the hills, and the gorgeous homes all make this one of my favorite runs offered in our city! Oh and it celebrates love, which I love! I didn’t realize this was the 16th year of this race. I’ve done it a bunch, but not sixteen years worth. It always cracks me up that this race is associated with lawyers/attorneys. Love and law don’t seem to equate to me, but hey, it works! As every year goes,…

    City Girl Does Cancún

It all started with a letter… …and continues with a beautiful and very memorable wedding on the beach of Cancún. Not, not my love story. HAHA! But the dreamiest of stories of the Wench meeting, falling in love and marrying Hotlanta in a whirlwind long-ish weekend in Mexico surrounded by love, family, and friends. I absolutely love the idea of a destination wedding. I love even more when friends decide that is how their wedding will go down. #LivinLaVidaThornton! We’ve been anticipating this trip for over a year and the calendar date finally met reality. There was definitely a little somewhat last minute rearranging I had to do since my plus…

    Musings: Cookie Slangin’

Just living vicariously through L… …and her Girl Scout cookie days! As I was prepping to write this post, I decided to search my old posts to see if I wrote about it before. Well, lo and behold, I sure did. I opened up the post and I instantly made my own self laugh. Honestly, not tooting my own horn. Laughing at myself is a pretty regular thing, but laughing at my own writing doesn’t usually happen. That post was basically written one year ago from now. I apparently was in the thick of helping L sell her cookies and couldn’t believe that they price of a box has reached…

A Surprise Adventure with River City Rickshaw

Christmas lights are magical… …which is why everyone loves to find the best court/street decorated to the 9’s. If you live in Sacramento, then you know about a few things: 1. The Fab 40’s are gorgeous in themselves, but even more so during the Holidays, 2. Don’t drive during them at night, it’s worse than any freeway traffic on a holiday, and 3. Get your butt over there, somehow, someway to see their hard work glowing and illuminating their gorgeous yards and homes! I’m a lazy human and I’ve always been one to employ the likes of others to get me from A to B. I love, love, love that…

    #CoachPAndLotTieTheKnot – 10.16.16

When you’re girl marries her prince… Photo by Cristal you CELEBRATE! Even if it’s pouring rain, like buckets of rain. Flash back to a couple of years ago, lil Adri’s bday party was in full swing at Round Table. The Teacher (re: Lot) mentioned she had a date later that evening, “just for coffee” she told us. Obviously we poked and prodded for details, which easily came forth. She’d been FB messaging with an old co-worker, whom she used to work with back in the day and he also went to our high school. After the details were laid out, we all were really excited for her to have coffee…even…

Musings: I Can't Afford Girl Scout Cookies

What the actual F?! $5 a box?! Is this serious? Is this real life? I thought I bought some last year, but I would wholeheartedly remember paying that exorbitant amount for a box of crack that is Samoas or Tagalongs! Those socks NEVER stayed up and those tassels were weird! First it should be noted that I love the Girl Scouts. I met one of my best friends through this organization. Her and her family are still close to my family. You’ve seen her on here plenty of times and I’m pretty sure I’ve even discussed it on here, but the Guidette and I met in Brownies (Girl Scouts). It…

    Diamond Celebration

60 years, that’s a long time… …to be with one person. Geez! HAHA, I say that in jest. I can only hope to have and cultivate what J’s grandparents have. This past weekend we celebrated their anniversary in grand fashion. I thought I was getting off scot-free (I just looked up this saying) this year with no weddings. Late in the game, two weddings found their way on into our calendars, both of which are family weddings. I love celebrating love. I love weddings. I’m pretty sure I’ve written this on here before. I love dressing up, I love the ceremony, I love the atmosphere. I just love everything about…

    Mahal Kita, Grandma!

Fourteen years ago…. Grandma – Amelia – Me – Gabe (below) – J (above) – Grandpa …we said good bye. You left us peacefully surrounded by everyone that loved you. You entered into your new life and reunited with Grandpa. I miss you every day, Grandma. I don’t have favorites when it comes to my grandparents, but you are the one grandparent I spent the most time with. Your passing coincides with a very celebrated holiday, which means we can never forget the day we said goodbye to you. Last year I wrote a very similar post, but my words and feelings remain the same. So many things remind me…
