Race Recap: Sacramento Giant Race, 5k

Same race, same sissy’s, different year. I’ve been putting off writing this recap because honestly, it’s going to be basically the same as the ones I’ve written before 2018, 2017, and 2016. Well, besides the inaugural race (2016), they are pretty much the same. This year they updated the course slightly, which I’ll go over later. Other than that, it was business as usual for our hometown race under the Giants race series. Oh, one thing to note is that after three years they finally updated the race title to fit within the Giant race series a little more cohesively. It is no longer called the Riverfront race. I guess…

    Musings: Dear Dad…

An intangible gift for my beloved Poppa Bear. Dear Dad, It’s your 35th Father’s Day! Not for any particular reason should this one be extra special, but I decided to do something different this year. Instead, I wanted to come here and share with the world (who reads my blog) my love, my appreciation, my fears, and my admiration for you. My Poppa Bear. My Dad. My Daddy. My Rock. My Protector. My Coach. My Everything. Mom, don’t get sad, you are plenty of these things and more too! I have never had to wonder what it would be like to not have you around. For that, I am eternally…

Thinking Out Loud – My Tomboy Side is Showing

When my tomboy side shows… Amanda at .RUNNING WITH SPOONS. A week of sporty musings, yup! Pushing aside my girly tenancies and keeping it sporty up in here! It wasn’t intentional, until I started working on this post, it just came to be that way. I won’t fight it, I will embrace the sports-loving girl that I am and go with it. So, I don’t blame you if you don’t read on any further. Without further ado… Home Sweet Yard // Every single time I get a chance to get to the Yard, you better believe that I will go. Needless to say, when Poppa Bear asked if I wanted…

Thinking Out Loud – Short Week Style

Longest short week ever… Amanda at .RUNNING WITH SPOONS. It’s only four days, right? Then why does it feel like it’s been six days and it’s only Thursday? Ah well, the weekend will be worth it! My 2 Faves // Last night I had the pleasure of spending the evening with my two favorite men – J and Poppa Bear. After a couple hours at the Verizon store, we were starving! It was fun to enjoy these two, all to myself! We ate good food, drank good drinks, and watched sports. As I sat there, I noticed how content I was with both of their presence. It’s not very often…

WIAW – As American As It Gets

Red, white, and burgers (or baseball)!! I love American food fare, I really do. I enjoy the luxury of being able to eat it all the time, no matter the day or the events of the day. Now, only if it didn’t come with all the calories 😉 I’m pretty sure you already know what the hell WIAW is, but if not, take a peek at where it all started with Jenn! And if you’re bored nosy, go peep out what everyone else is eating too! I am going to break the rules today, since I didn’t eat dinner on Memorial Day, which is where the first half of the…

Five Things Friday – Be Happy!

Smiling…for no reason! Thanks, Clare! Not that it should be a bad thing, but I’m in a great mood today. I guess, sometimes I feel bad for being so happy and content with my life. There are so many ugly things happening, in addition to hurt and pain, and I’m sitting here smiling at what I have and what surrounds me. So today, I will only post 5 Things That Are Making Me Happy and keep it to just that: 1. National Sibling Day — Today is that day. If you’ve been around these parts at all, then it’s not really important that I remind you how amazing it is…

    Rose & Thorn [43]

Before I can go any further, I NEED to wish… HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPPA BEAR!  Okay, back to the regularly scheduled program… The From bad to good! Rose: A full weekend of FUNstivities Thorn: Not knowing if I’m actually sick or if allergies are kicking my ass! This was one of those weekends where everything just fell into place. There were things to do, but nothing felt rushed or forced. Besides my onset of allergies, snot, and nasty cough, all was well! Friday I tried to stick out the full day at work, but I’d been feeling miserable since Thursday and it was only getting worse. So after lunch, I finished…
