    Musings: I’m in a Relationship

As the sun was setting, gazing at the most beautiful views of a cotton candy colored sky, I realized something. Something so profound, everything made so much sense at that moment. The clarity was almost too much for me to wrap my brain around. But with each stride, I fell into a clearness that once seemed so unreachable and far away. Finally, my first run of the year was simply, yet lucidly unraveling the jumbled thoughts and ideas I’ve had about running for a long time. Lately, running and I have had an extremely volatile relationship. To be fair, it has been volatile since I ran the Napa marathon in…

    Happy #GlobalRunningDay 2017

I thought it was National Running Day!…but, after looking at the blog the 2016 post celebrated the same holiday — #GlobalRunningDay. Coincidence or not, maybe creature of habit, but I retired a pair of Kinvara’s on this day last year and used new ones to celebrate it this year! I think I’m making my running comeback… The hardest part is realizing that you are starting the process over. When I started to despise the runs, it was because I was running a lot of miles and lost the joy of it. I was in good (my standards) running shape. I am no longer anywhere near that shape at the moment.…

Race Recap: Girls On The Run Greater Sacramento 5k

Our first 5k together! I was finally able to support Girls On The Run (GOTR) again! I’ve been meaning to forever, but their race dates never seemed to sync up with my schedule. I have done one of their races before, but we didn’t sign up for the actual intent of supporting GOTR. It was when we committed to doing a 5k/month and the GOTR Fall race fit in all of our schedules. I remember it was a cool, foggy morning in East Sac for us! Also, I’ve interacted with the woman who runs the Greater Sacramento chapter and she’s really sweet — even though she didn’t hire me for…

Race Recap: San Jose Giants Race

I Turn(ed) Two in San Jose… …but even more excited to become a Triple Bagger in September! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, let’s rejoice in the five miles that is the San Jose Giant Race. I’ve raved about this race since the first time I ran it, although no recap since I was just starting to blog then. I love the randomness of the course — city streets, up a rolling grassy hill, through a cool zoo, and finishing on an actual field (not a warning track)! All of that on a lovely Saturday morning (wishing it was a Sunday morning) with one of my fave running partners!…

    Happy Global Running Day! [2016]

Celebrating in a different kind of way today… …saying ‘goodbye’ to my Watermelons! A pair of Kinvara’s that have seen (mostly) the worst of my running, but also some happy miles… Today, along with all my other fun running friends, I celebrate the all encompassing sport of ‘Running’. If you don’t think it’s a sport, you’ve never trained for a marathon, done fartleks, hill work, or a speed workout. If you do all those and think it’s not a sport, then we can have an actual discussion.  I digress…   Vent over, sorry.  I am a self-proclaimed Kinvara addict. I’ve had all of the versions minus the original and I…

    Ganeeban Runs Shamrock'n – Week 8

When you forget (re: choose) to run… So I had every intention of being a good runner this week and to finish out this training session strong. But the weather had other plans and decided to be a jerk. And by jerk I mean really, really rainy! Like the damn had to be released for the first time in years, due to all the rain we’ve had lately. I’ve even concluded that I may not race if it rains that hard on race day. I know, I’m being a baby. But I have no intention of getting sick before our trip at the end of the month. I even contemplated running 13.1…

    Ganeeban Runs Shamrock'n – Week 7

I see the finish line… …well, since our training program is going down in miles, I do! The one pain in my ass (figurative, not literal) is that this training session always runs through my birthday (and Lent). So, some years I sacrifice training to party my little birthday heart out and some years I take it easy to stay consistent with my training. I’ve done both spectrum, but I’m not sure if my race time and those decisions correlate. The worst or good part, depending on how you look at it, is that my birthday celebration is usually the weekend before the race (at times two) when we start…

Race Recap: California International Marathon – Relay 2015

Same name, different team. Obsessed with this sign this year. I think the California International Marathon is magical. I may be slightly biased because it resides in my backyard, but nonetheless, there is something that it does to this city, year after year. If you aren’t pissed that you cannot drive anywhere in Sacramento because of the road closures, then you are on the course cheering your heart out. There is no in between, unless you’re running. You either admire the feat or you detest it for causing you delays to and fro. If you’ve been around awhile, then you know this was the race I ran as my first…

    Musings: Lately, Life…

First things, first! Happy #NationalCoffeeDay! Yes, this day deserves all the attention. The sweet, strong, and bitter nectar of the Gods deserves to be celebrated each and every day. Not only does it bring me the caffeine jolt needed on a daily basis, it tastes amazing. I know some will argue against this, but I’ll just drink their coffee then. As I’ve aged, like fine wine (duh!) or just settled into my baller-on-a-budget ways, I drink less fu-fu and more simple styles of coffee. Back in high school and college, you could pretty much find me with the biggest cup full of an iced white mocha, brimming with calories and…

Race Recap: The Giant Race 10k

My team > Your team Via Just sayin’! It’s only the sixth annual SF Giant Race. It seems like it’s been around longer than that, but I guess my time perception is always off. I think it is amazing that the SF Giants put together three different fun runs for their organization and farm teams (Scottsdale, San Jose, and SF). That being said, I cannot believe this is my first race recap for this race, even though I’ve been running it for a few years now (missed 2013 & 2014). I’m also wishing and praying that now that the Sacramento Rivercats are their AAA team, maybe they’ll think of hosting…
