    Musings: I’m Dating Religion

I have been, on and off, for a long time. But now, with more time on my hands, I can actually continue courting the religion that best fits my beliefs. I’ve actually been wanting to find the right fit for a while. It is intimidating. Maybe that’s an excuse, but I do feel overwhelmed when it comes to religion. The topic is polarizing and somewhat taboo, so it seems intimidating to find the right balance in persons to talk to about it all. Also, I haven’t truly made it a priority, even though I’ve had this nagging feeling it was something I want in my life. However, I still don’t…

Musings: No Buy February – Week 2

Tracking is truly a way to hold you accountable. The Financial Diet and just about EVERYONE else who tries to help others manage their finances recommend writing it all down. I know it works. But I don’t want to admit it to myself. That’s too transparent. That’s too accountable. That’s too real. But doing it week by week has made it a little less intimidating and truly hold me accountable for the crap that I buy. Here is a breakdown of what I spent on erroneous stuff: Food: Breakfasts – Cafe at work (2) Lunch – N A D A {I don’t count my Jamba Juice because have a gift card!}…

Race Recap: LSNC Valentine Run 2018

First race R U N of 2018! When you wait for some annoying human to decide if your plans will fall into (their) place or not, sometimes you just have to sign up for a race with one of your fave gal pal’s and her cute baby. If you can’t communicate timely, then that’s your bad! And because this is MY blog, I can vent about it here for a second. I was invited to a GS event 2 days after the due date for purchasing tickets, then the invitee told the group organizer she blamed it all on ‘poor communication!’ Seriously? I guess owning up to your own mischievous…

    Musings: Iced Coffee Dilemma

My bank account cannot keep up with my Summer induced ice coffee addiction! Seriously, ever since starting my new job that has a Starbucks relatively close, my bank account has been diminishing exponentially. Finally, I had to put a stop to it! An iced coffee + breakfast item was averaging at about $9/day AND that’s just for breakfast! What the hell?! Since disposable income isn’t really in my vocabulary these days, I needed to get smart about this painfully debt inducing habit. I of course went to FB to crowd-source my options and I came back with a bunch. Previously, I looked into various Cold Brews at various stores. I noticed…

    Coffee Date Me!

When Starbucks inspires a post… …I hate to admit it, but its true! I was so enamored with their new breakfast wrap that I was going to write an entire post about it, but then decided to just have a coffee date with you instead. So as I drink my Venti Iced Soy Latte with an add shot (cause it was my rewards freebie and I have to make the most of it), I hope you enjoy your caffeinated beverage of choice. Well, lets get to it… Starbucks // Since my new job is very close to a drive-thru Sbux, I’ve been going there before work a lot. Iced coffee…

Race Recap: San Jose Giant Race 5 Miler

The race I always want to flake on… …but DON’T! I have to drive 1.5 hours the night before to get to Lil’s casa. Then we get up super early the next AM and drive 40 mins to the race. Then do it all over again for me to get back to SAC. I absolutely love supporting my Orange && Black, but this race takes its toll on me. Sadly, this may be our last SJ race now that the Lil is moving home. It doesn’t seem feasible or enjoyable to drive to SJ the morning of the race for a 7:30AM start time, nor does it seem exciting enough…

    Musings: Unicorn (Frappuccinos) Are Real

You know I had to see what the hype was about! No, you don’t need to call me basic. Don’t even get me started on how I canNOT stand that word and its usage. Shows how much is wrong with our generation of judgy, narcissist humans walking around thinking its okay to throw judgment like confetti. And YES, I’m hella judgemental too, but I’ve learned to check myself and question why I’m being that way! And while we’re at it, stop food shaming people. This term is accurate, yet a little exaggerated for this situation. But really, let people try something that looks cool to them. Let people not wan…

Musings: A Day Trip to Reset

He knows where I need to go when I’m feeling stagnant… …or just need a reset. I had that feeling and I expressed it to J, so he planned a quick little day trip to the City for us. I didn’t realize, but he had planned for us to hike, but the weather had a different idea. He gave me two places to chose from, but I wasn’t feeling decisive so I told him to pick. We got up, got lazy, and took a little longer than we had planned (to leave). All good, though. We swung by Sbux so I could grab a coffee, on our way out of…

A Surprise Adventure with River City Rickshaw

Christmas lights are magical… …which is why everyone loves to find the best court/street decorated to the 9’s. If you live in Sacramento, then you know about a few things: 1. The Fab 40’s are gorgeous in themselves, but even more so during the Holidays, 2. Don’t drive during them at night, it’s worse than any freeway traffic on a holiday, and 3. Get your butt over there, somehow, someway to see their hard work glowing and illuminating their gorgeous yards and homes! I’m a lazy human and I’ve always been one to employ the likes of others to get me from A to B. I love, love, love that…

    Musings: The New COOL Aid

Okay, so no big cool red jug dancing around… via Wikipedia …just a huge domineering corporation garnering WOM marketing like crazy for a ‘hidden menu’. It seems like hidden menus are the cool thing these days, In-N-Out and Jamba Juice, just to name a few. Of course, the tasty caffeinated conglomerate has one too. The funny thing is, when I went rouge and ordered one of these drinks the barista said “we make anything you want”. Suggesting that idea dumbfounded me, for some odd reason. I’m accustomed to traditional menus at restaurants. Creating my own item just sounds far fetched. But in reality, that’s what I’m doing when I customize…
