Musings: Swooning over the CA State Fair

Another year, another CA State Fair!   Just living my best life possible, one fried thing at a time! I can’t really say much that I haven’t already said over the last few years: 2016, 2015, 2014, and another 2014. But what I can do, is share my mostly food adventures from my two visits from this year! I really love their hashtag this year, #LiveInTheMoment! Don’t we all need to do that. It really should be something we strive for, especially since all of our gadgets (re: screen time) are so prevalent these days! On our first visit, we went on a weekday afternoon with L, J’s Mom, his aunt, J, and myself. The…

Musings: Every Summer Has a Story…

2016  was the Summer of polarizing emotions, feelings, and life. More than anything, emotionally this was the hardest Summer I’ve ever experienced. Within the depths of deep sadness and anger, were moments of fun, travel, and good food. All culminated with happiness, but to get here was a struggle. I’m pretty sure I came across the saying “Every Summer Has a Story,” as I was scrolling through Pinterest one day. It stuck with me. It rings so true. Even as an adult, I still live for summers. Bikini’s, tans, vacations, and watermelon — summer is my favorite season, even in the sweltering Sacramento heat. Last year I wrote a post…

    Musings: Hostess with the Mostess

I have a secret……everyone thinks I love to host parties! Well, technically that’s the truth — but to be completely honest I am a faux hostess. I always wait until the last minute, I always shop on a budget, and I hate to admit it, but I use the hell out of Pinterest for hosting parties. Most importantly, I take shortcuts wherever possible. This post is perfectly timed because this Saturday we are hosting L’s 8th birthday party and I’ve done all of the things listed above. Summer, outdoor parties are my fave to host and plan! Nothing better than taking advantage of the great summer outdoor weather to gather friends && family! Since we always…

My Go-To Summer Cockatil of 2016

I am soooo not that type of person… …but after making this drink back-to-back days and liking equally each time, I decided to dub the following my drink for Summer 2016! I cannot take credit for this lovely creation. Someone liked a FB post by ‘The Drunken Goose’– of which, I have no idea what this even is nor do I care to even look into it — that had the recipe and an image of a lovely beverage! Its simplicity is what drew my attention. That and the picture looked pretty too. Moscato Strawberry Lemonade 1 Bottle of Pink Moscato 6 Cups Lemonade 1/4 Cup of Strawberry Vodka Frozen…

    Kick Rocks, PSL!

Please stop your pumpkin-scarves-Fall-leaves-rain talkin… Via …until the Autumn Equinox, at least!  From here on out, I will not let anyone take the last few days of summer away from me. Your talk of pumpkin anything is annoying. Talk of rain is only allowed this year because of our serious need for water (no, I will not abuse the D word). Otherwise I’d tell you shove it, as well. Yes, I have some of my “basic” (as the kids are using these days) tendencies. But PSL, gloomy weather, and jonsing for the fall weather are not any of them. Scarves, yes. I have so many our downstairs closet will barely…

You’re One In A Melon [Watermelon Themed Party]

Baller-on-a-budget, kids themed party status! To say we were on a tight budget, is an understatement. All our traveling bills came at once and so did a rapidly approaching birthday party! But you make do, because that’s how life goes. In our house, watermelon goes by the name of sandia (watermelon in Spanish), so it unofficially became the ‘sandia party’ in our everyday lives and discussions! I know I love to say how much I detest Pinterest, but it really came in handy this time around. All I had to to was type “watermelon + themed + party” and I really didn’t have to do much from there. Well, besides…

    Every Summer has a Story…

…but our story is my favorite! I love that saying…it rings so true. Many equate the summer ending with school starting, but for a woman already in her career I don’t have that luxury anymore. Although, there is one pretty little gal in our household we get to live vicariously through summer eyes. I guess I shouldn’t forget J too, he gets a summer break. So really, I’m the minority in our family. Maybe that’s why this summer, compared to the last few, seems so different. I’m just sitting here jealous of sleeping in, days at the park, and no cares of school (re: work) for two of the loveliest,…

    Hello, July!

Seven months deep… via Pinterest and all I keep thinking about is that summa summa time anthem. While we’re still sweltering away here in Nor Cal (108 degrees yesterday), I’m really excited it’s July.  Each year brings new summer adventures, but this year it’s July (and a little August too)! A little traveling, a little reflecting, and a little summer lovin’! Stay tuned… Hope your July is as good as I’m hoping mine will be.

Distracted to say the least… Amanda at .RUNNING WITH SPOONS. …but not enough to get a good ‘ol TOL post in. I guess when given then opportunity to ramble, I take full advantage, even if my mind and heart are elsewhere. This week seems to have flown by with so many post-work activities I haven’t had much time to relax. Thinking Out Loud – On a Thursday

I’m all thought’d out… Amanda at .RUNNING WITH SPOONS. The good thing about blogging is I can make up my own words and no one can say anything. Well, technically not true. But I do and I don’t really care what anyone says. So take that… thought’d! Pitch Perfect 2 // I totally slept on the first one and don’t think I saw it until it had already been out on DVD for months, possibly over a year. But I loved it after my second go around of watching it. I liked it at first, but it wasn’t until my second viewing did I really decided I was smitten. So,…
