Diary of a Non-Cook: Bacon Wrapped Dates

It’s all in the name… Although the name literally tells you exactly what to do, I was still interested to see how a Book Club (BC) friend made these. I’ve had them before, but at the BC I hosted, Lynsi brought these and I’m pretty sure I ate about ten of them. She mentioned she brought them because they were Whole 30 approved. I didn’t really care about that, I just loved how delicious they were. Bacon around anything is pretty damn delicious. So, when I was assigned an appetizer for Easter, I knew I wanted to make these. I say ‘make’ very loosely, because it is more like curating…

    Musings: Some-Bunny Special

Let’s get crafty! But in the least amount of time and money type of craft…if you get my drift. I love to craft, but my schedule doesn’t permit extreme crafting. So I tend to craft on the fly. Maybe with a little inspo from a pin here or there, but mostly I just make them up as I go. Last year, I shared Musings: Boycott Easter Candy. Sounds kind of negative, but really it was just a way for me to avoid giving lovebugs more candy when they get tons of eggs (dare I say close to 75/each) full of candy and some money. It was a fun way to give…

    Musings: No Buy February

Fit, financially… I am not. January was dedicated to making sure I started a savings program for myself. Don’t judge. Yes, I know I should have been saving prior to my 34th year of life. You gotta start somewhere… I do NOT do well with people telling me to stop spending money. I hate it. Like, really hate it. My Mom tries and I basically lash out at her. My Dad offers it up, but a little less abrupt and a little more easily. I still don’t like it. Don’t even get me started when J tells me. So, obviously, it’s something I need to work on. So, I self-prescribed…

Diary of a Non-Cook: Zucchini Bread

Well, it really should be Diary of a Non-BAKER! You wouldn’t think veggies in bread would be ideal, right?!? Oh, but sooo wrong! Zucchini bread is my fave. Well, HUGE caveat, it must have zero, zip, zilch walnuts in it, on top of it, or anywhere near it! Those weird, brain looking, kinda soft nuts are not my thing. At. All. Okay, that’s a slight exaggeration, but I do not prefer them. Ever. Finding zucchini bread sans walnuts is akin to finding the holy grail. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it is an amazing day. I can’t even lie, I’ve been known to be very non-lady like…

    Musings: Smiply Crafting

Crafting done simply.   Pinterest, my disdain still lingers, even though I continue to use it regularly. However, I think that with the ever fanatic use of the app/tool, people forget to come back to reality and remember most of us have full-time jobs, kids, commitments…A LIFE! Pinterest crafting takes way too much time and money to really do it correctly…thus, simply crafting done MY own way!!Pinterest seems to put an emphasis on taking the simplicity of creativity out of the picture. Everything needs to be curated to the nth degree. For those that don’t give any F’s, kudos to you. It’s hard not too, human nature doesn’t make it…

    Musings: Boycott Easter Candy

Okay, I’m not Bummer Bunny or anything… …but I feel like every year all the kids in our families and L receive tons of candy for Easter. To change it up this year, I decided to gift something else. I’m sure I’m not the first person to do this, so I’m NOT claiming rights to my crafty idea, but I thought I’d share what I am giving to the Lovebugs this year. I decided that books were a great gift for the kidlets. Yes, they’d love candy way more than that. I want something better than five seconds of gratification — AND I know that others will gift candy, so…

Diary of a Non-Cook: A FB Video Meal

We all know those time-lapse videos that speed through how to cook a meal, right?! Well, I finally saved one on FB and went for it last week. I showed L and ever since then we’d been talking about making it. This one is from Cooking Panda, dubbed the Taco Bake. It’s essentially a nacho casserole.  Directions & Ingredients from the video (I ad-libbed a bit) 9×13 Casserole Dish, Greased // Used this size and a small one for my own (sans beans) version 1.5lb Ground Beef, Cooked // Used 1lb Ground Turkey 1 Can Tomatoes + Green Chilies // Used a can of Rotel 1 Cup Sour Cream //…

    Annual Cookie Party

Established in 1987. So, I can’t really take credit for this cool, annual event…but I’ve been in attendance for a pretty damn long time. Technically she’s my 2nd cousin, but she feels more like an older sister. We call her Joy, but she goes by Clem to those who went to school with her. It is her and her group of girlfriends who took Lil and I in and let us be a part of their holiday FUNstivities since we were really little.   From gallivanting up to Apple Hill to cut down Christmas trees to the annual cookie party, these women have been in our lives for a long…

Our Little Lisette [My Little Pony Themed Party]

Full of color and a little magic… Photo by UVVisions Photography (Cropped) …”Our Little Lisette’s” 8th birthday needed to be as Ponyriffic as she is…AND it was! Like my post last week said, I’m all about being the faux Hostess with the Hostess. Thanks to Pinterest and the Dollar Tree, anyone can pretty much be now. That being said, we let L pick out the theme of her party. She knew right away, My Little Pony was exactly what she wanted. I, for sure, thought she’d change her mind by the time the party came around, but she didn’t. She was excited and happy about the theme. Of course, once…

    Totally (Le)Totes…

Le first, Le Tote! You should try everything once, well that was my mindset when it came to my first Tote from Le Tote! Last week, I ranted posted about my decision to give Le Tote a try. A serious try. I was potentially, slightly dramatic about it all. But you have to know me to understand that this is way out of the norm for me. Even my Mom said, as I told her were the denim dress came from, “That’s so NOT you!” No shit, Sherlock (sorry Mom, don’t get mad at that, please)! But anywho, I’m giving it a try and really trying it out. Like I…
