    Musings: FALLing into Gratitude

Fall brings one of my favorite holidays. Door Mat // Hobby LobbyShoes & Dress // Old Navy Thanksgiving, of course.  But more than taking in all the beautiful fall colors lining the streets of Sacramento, are the small acts of generosity that recently reminded me to be grateful and thankful. So, very appropriate for this time of year. To think that a child could not try a sport or activity is foreign to me. My naivety comes from the privilege and hard work of my parents, whom never let this be a barrier for myself or Lil. It went unnoticed at the time, but my parents worked so hard to…

    THANKSgiving 2016

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. – William Arthur Ward It’s pretty hard not to be reminded of the essence of tomorrow, Thanksgiving! More than anything lately, remembering to be grateful and thankful for every single thing has help me stay grounded, sane, and be accepting of plenty of things I can and cannot change. So, to be as cliche as possible I’m going to put my “THANKS” out into the Interwebs. Tomorrow, I hope to enjoy each moment with family, friends, and good food — all the important Fs in one’s life! I am thankful for… New Family Dynamics //…

    #NailedIt – Thanksgiving Edition

I’m bound to be successful one time, right? I can curate the hell out of something, but I’m just not that interested in cooking. But now that I’m considered an ‘adult’ I always ask what I can bring for any family event. They are nice and forgiving and always give me something fairly easy to ‘make’! This years option was a fruit plate or an appetizer. I said I’d bring fruit, but decided to bring an appetizer on my own free will. Tempting fate, I guess. I wanted something warm and gooey, the weather was begging for it. I went over to good ‘ol Pinterest and hit up my Finger Foods…

Race Recap: Run to Feed the Hungry 2015

Every year brings something different. This year was a whole new story. It was the same fun-run Sacramento has every year, but I just did it a little different this year. If you’ve read the past few posts (here & here), then you know I never start at the start line and I just try to have fun, yet still run it. This year was all a hot mess, but in a great way! An unorganized, chaotic lovely mess. I’m happy I was apart of it! I haven’t been a part of a RTFTH ‘team’ in years, since my sister played club soccer. We used to do the walk/run with…

    They're HERE!

I love professional photos. I feel deprived that we didn’t do them regularly, while growing up. Sorry Mom, kinda kidding. Is it weird that this is one of the things I was really looking forward to when I had my own family. Since I already spilled the beans about how much time I spent on selecting our outfits (via this post), I thought I’d share a few with you. I love having these memories captured for a multitude of reasons. I think it is essential to have professional pics of L taken every year, memorializing her growth. Obviously my iPhone has nothing on an actual, real life camera. Having someone…

Race Recap: Run to Feed the Hungry 2014

I’m a Race Rebel! Only when it comes to this race. If you’re a new-ish reader, you can read last year’s recap here, I don’t want to bore everyone with redundancy! Let’s just say, with 27,000 runner’s each year, I deem it acceptable to hop in about a quarter of a mile into the race. They’ve gotten smarter over the years and blocked the entrance so you can walk to the start line and hop in, that being said…I just wait my happy butt on a random little island near the start and hop in after the fast-ies pass. Yeah, take your judgey pants off! I pay for the race,…

    WIAW – I HATE Pinterest!

#NailedIt Please let me explain before you stop reading. My hatred stems from its ability to give me  false hope that what I find on a stupid “board” will be easy to make. And also because the title tells me so! Psh, lies…all lies! I’m sure some of you readers will immediately gasp at my title of the blog today, but seriously…let’s be real! Pinterest is kinda dumb, but kind genius as well, which is probably why I despise it! Boards and pins, even more stuff social media stuff that I have to keep up with. Thanks, Jenn! Today’s WIAW is a little different that what Jenn had originally intended this link-up to be, but…

    Rose & Thorn [27]

Adios November… Rose: Giving thanks, family, and friends… Thorn: Damn head cold…part deux! So, since I generally start my weekend when I get out of work, this post should start from Wednesday at noon until yesterday evening. Buuuut, this would be the longest blog post ever to be written so I’ll try to keep it short and simple, even picture based for ya’ll! WEDNESDAY Errands, errands, errands. A quick solo lunch, cause J as stuck at home sick. Packet pick-up for the annual Thanksgiving day run and then home to chill for a second. J accompanied AND paid for my pedicure – I won a bet in January (yes, 10…

    Gobble, Gobble.

I guess I can’t blog when there is a holiday! I left my small, minuscule area of the blog world to fully invest myself in the Thanksgiving holiday. Basically once I clocked out for work on Wednesday (at 2PM, yay), I was on vacation…from EVERYTHING! Bad blogger….I know, I know… So here goes my recap of my busy, yet fun weekend full of food, family, and fun! After my Run to Feed the Hungry 10k I went home to get pretty and make an appetizer. I’d been anxiously awaiting making this appetizer for my family. They are judgemental and I don’t cook often, so this could have been a deadly combo.…

Race Recap: Run to Feed the Hungry 2013

Why does everyone else in America call it the Turkey Trot?!? Sounds ridiculous to me, but maybe that’s because I’ve been conditioned to calling our traditional Thanksgiving Day run “Run to Feed the Hungry”. Happy 20th Anniversary #RTFTH! I wish I knew how many exact races I’ve participated in, I think it’s anywhere from 10-15 over the last 20 years. I remember walking them as kids with the Lil’s entire soccer team and their families. To more recently, doing it every year with my immediate family. However, this year I rolled out SOLO! It was weird, to say the least. So apparently this race is the largest in the US.…
