Race Recap: The Giant Race 10k

A decade of Giant Races! Literally, the ONLY reason Lil and I decided to run this race. We are worn out of the Giant Race series. The cost, the travel…everything. But as we finished in 2018 we were reminded that the 2019 race would be the 10th anniversary of the race. So, here we are (against our will). About $85 poorer, but supporting all things Orange && Black! Literally, nothing about this recap is really different than the last five or so I’ve written. Let’s take a look back and see how a decade of Giant Races in San Francisco, only, have looked for Lil and me: 2010: No2011: Yes2012:…

Race Recap: Sacramento Giant Race, 5k

Same race, same sissy’s, different year. I’ve been putting off writing this recap because honestly, it’s going to be basically the same as the ones I’ve written before 2018, 2017, and 2016. Well, besides the inaugural race (2016), they are pretty much the same. This year they updated the course slightly, which I’ll go over later. Other than that, it was business as usual for our hometown race under the Giants race series. Oh, one thing to note is that after three years they finally updated the race title to fit within the Giant race series a little more cohesively. It is no longer called the Riverfront race. I guess…

Race Recap: Scottsdale 5k 2018, Virtual Runner

From October (if we are lucky) to February we dream in Orange && Black… However, we start receiving the Giant Race emails well into this quiet phase of non-baseball life. We get swept away with the ideals of a Series Sweep medal to prove we are okay spending at least $250 on running for our favorite team. We are okay with endless amounts of medals and bobbleheads because we LOVE our G-men! We do. We prove it every year. Every race. Every dollar spent. We are such SUCKERS! And I’m completely okay with it! That being said, this year, AGAIN, was not going to be a year that I’d be able to…

    Race Recap – Riverfront 5k 2018

No expectations, no worries. Since this race was literally one-week post break-up with J, I was still a huge emotional mess. I knew that wouldn’t stop me from physically running this race, but I also didn’t care about it. AT. ALL. Literally, it was the furthest thing from my mind. But, a commitment is a commitment and I don’t ever leave those unattended. From the lack of sleep and appetite to the emotional heartache I was dealing with, trying to comprehend a real race was truly just not something I could emotionally burn calories on. Not to mention, we were supposed to run this race together with Lil 🙁 I…

Race Recap: San Jose Giant Race 5 Miler

The race I always want to flake on… …but DON’T! I have to drive 1.5 hours the night before to get to Lil’s casa. Then we get up super early the next AM and drive 40 mins to the race. Then do it all over again for me to get back to SAC. I absolutely love supporting my Orange && Black, but this race takes its toll on me. Sadly, this may be our last SJ race now that the Lil is moving home. It doesn’t seem feasible or enjoyable to drive to SJ the morning of the race for a 7:30AM start time, nor does it seem exciting enough…

Race Recap: The Giant Race 10k

I may be a crappy Giants fan this year… …but I wouldn’t miss this race! Literally, this was the first time I’ve been to AT&T Park this year. I’m really starting to feel like a faux Giants fan. Yes, I follow the games via my App and watch as many as I can catch (since we don’t have cable), but I haven’t been a physical supporter like normal. It kinda makes me sad. Anywho, that’s besides the point of me running this race. As every year goes, I make (re: ask and she always says yes) Lil run this race with me. To my surprise, J said he wanted to…

    Musings: Not Starting

My blogger dream could have been a reality… …but I wasn’t selected! I was crushed. That might be a slight exaggeration, but it still stings. The SF Giants started a new blogger ‘Starting Nine’ for their Giant Race series. When I saw their FB post asking for people to apply, I was seriously the happiest girl ever that day! And stopped everything that moment and applied. I probably should have spent a little more time on the application, looking back. There’s that hindsight again, always there to remind me! Anywho, the application was very simple, with a few questions to answer and you also had to list your Social Media…

Race Recap: San Jose Giants Race

I Turn(ed) Two in San Jose… …but even more excited to become a Triple Bagger in September! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, let’s rejoice in the five miles that is the San Jose Giant Race. I’ve raved about this race since the first time I ran it, although no recap since I was just starting to blog then. I love the randomness of the course — city streets, up a rolling grassy hill, through a cool zoo, and finishing on an actual field (not a warning track)! All of that on a lovely Saturday morning (wishing it was a Sunday morning) with one of my fave running partners!…

    Race Recap – Riverfront 5k

I’m a sucker for any inaugural race… ..but you already know that. Since the Sacramento Rivercats (AAA team) were acquired by the SF Giants affiliate last year, my favorite team is literally in my backyard for the next four years (I think that’s how long the contract is for). That being said, the Giant Race series has races at all of their affiliates – Scottsdale for Spring Training, Sacramento for their AAA team, San Jose for their AA team, and then they end with a final race in the City (SF) for the final race of the series. This year, Lil and I are running three of the four. Since…

Race Recap: The Giant Race 10k

My team > Your team Via Just sayin’! It’s only the sixth annual SF Giant Race. It seems like it’s been around longer than that, but I guess my time perception is always off. I think it is amazing that the SF Giants put together three different fun runs for their organization and farm teams (Scottsdale, San Jose, and SF). That being said, I cannot believe this is my first race recap for this race, even though I’ve been running it for a few years now (missed 2013 & 2014). I’m also wishing and praying that now that the Sacramento Rivercats are their AAA team, maybe they’ll think of hosting…
