    Diary of a Non-Cook(ie) Party

Another December, another yearly tradition. I introduced you to our Cookie Party tradition in 2016, but Lil and I have been attending it for over two decades. It’s been going on for three to four decades, from what I’m told. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise that it happened again this year.  I wanted to make something, but the party landed on a very busy weekend. The night before, the Guidette and I hosted our holiday party. I knew we’d be up late and tired from all the shenannegins of throwing a party. To be fair, I didn’t do much, she did most of it. I was just there co-hosting,…

    Musings: Traditions Evolve

I am very much a traditionalist. I love traditions. I use them as a way to honor those who have left us. But also, my type A enjoys the routine and normalcy of traditions. With a mixture of both desires, I am extremely happy living out traditions, especially during the Holidays. They definitely have evolved over the years, but they seem to be pretty consistent these days. Traditions have a special way of keeping our favorite memories alive, but their permanence can be an illusion at times too. My point in writing this is because, after the breakup, I’ve had to take a whole different approach to traditions and also change.…

Musings: Swooning over the CA State Fair

Another year, another CA State Fair!   Just living my best life possible, one fried thing at a time! I can’t really say much that I haven’t already said over the last few years: 2016, 2015, 2014, and another 2014. But what I can do, is share my mostly food adventures from my two visits from this year! I really love their hashtag this year, #LiveInTheMoment! Don’t we all need to do that. It really should be something we strive for, especially since all of our gadgets (re: screen time) are so prevalent these days! On our first visit, we went on a weekday afternoon with L, J’s Mom, his aunt, J, and myself. The…

The New Tradition: A Christmas Adventure

What do you get a kid who has pretty much everything? Okay, none of us are rich (by any means), but the kid literally has most everything she wants or needs. She still has presents that haven’t been opened from her birthday four months ago. I don’t think she needs more presents, well not from us at least. Having a blended family, means you get more than one of every occasion, for the most part – Christmas and Birthday to be exact. Well, that is, unless the parents can throw a joint party together, then you can combine the events. But in our case, we can’t, so we don’t! There…

Good Riddance, Linda! – Week 4

Ok, that’s a little harsh! I know, but I’m glad the last week is over. Linda is tucked away safely in her packaging, which I won’t let L ever find again. The packaging, not Linda. A friend does her EOTS for the “12 Days of Chritmas,” which I’m thinking is a great idea. Since behaviors aren’t an issue for us, Linda isn’t as necessary as it is in some homes.  Who knows?! If L still shows this much enthusiasm, whom am I to rain on her happiness?! I’m not, we’ll do it again…I can’t help but love the smile, light in her eyes, and genuine happiness she gets from that…

    …and Like That It’s Over!

Christmas has come and gone… …just like that. If you remember correctly, I was trying to find my Christmas spirit on Christmas Eve. Shortly after I wrote/posted that, it started to sink in and magically I began to start feeling more in the spirit. Maybe it was just saying it out loud (well, really writing it) that made snap out of it. Maybe the super relaxing pedicure that was pure bliss also helped. But by Christmas Eve I was in the full Christmas spirit and ready for all the celebrations ahead. Christmas Eve w/ J’s family. This long weekend was exactly what I needed. Family time. Family time. Friend time. Lets just say 3.5 days was not…

    Oh Shit, Linda! Week 3

So we’ve progressively sucked at Linda.  J has been worse than I, but we both are sucking big time right now. I think the elaborate scenarios are fun, but when you’re sick, you give give two shits about a dumb doll. And in general, J could care less. His ideal thing is to just put Linda somewhere new, nothing past that…that would be doing too much. I don’t blame him, I got us into this mess.  You can see our digression if you look at our first week, then our second week. Thank goodness this shit is almost done!! Now with the arrival of Billy, Ls other EOTS, she isn’t…

    Linda, Oh Linda! Week 2

Another week of mediocre creativity genius that involves a little creepy doll! We survived our first week without too much commotion. You can take a peek here if you’d like to see our introduction to Linda and how our first week went down. It’s still weird to call her “Linda,” since the others I see have crazy names, not an average lady’s name. HAHA! People must think we are talking about an actual person when we talk about her. Must make for great ear hustling. Well, lets get to it. Week 2 was another mixture of finding Pins that weren’t mine and copying them or convenience. Here is the board…

    That Lil F&$%er – Week 1

I got suckered.   Big time! You know exactly what I’m talking about. That f&*%$ing Elf on the Shelf (EOTS). Being the baller-on-a-budget lady that I am, I decided it would be a great decision to purchase Elf on the Shelf at a great deal of 50% off at Target, the day (or two) after Christmas last year. I packed it away with all the Christmas stuff and didn’t give it another thought… …until the Saturday after Thanksgiving this year. I was unpacking all the Christmas decorations and I came across the Elf on the Shelf packaging. AND so did L! At the time I didn’t realize what cardinal mistake I…
