Race Recap: Girls On The Run Greater Sacramento 5k

Our first 5k together! I was finally able to support Girls On The Run (GOTR) again! I’ve been meaning to forever, but their race dates never seemed to sync up with my schedule. I have done one of their races before, but we didn’t sign up for the actual intent of supporting GOTR. It was when we committed to doing a 5k/month and the GOTR Fall race fit in all of our schedules. I remember it was a cool, foggy morning in East Sac for us! Also, I’ve interacted with the woman who runs the Greater Sacramento chapter and she’s really sweet — even though she didn’t hire me for…

    Rose & Thorn [52]

A whole year of Roses & Thorns! Rose: Being active ALL weekend, with lots of soccer! Thorn: Relationship stuff with J… What the summer? Why was it so freakin’ hot this weekend? Oh well, I guess I can’t complain, I’m a summer lovin’ girl at heart! The WWC started this weekend, but it sure didn’t seem to have the excitement and hoopla that the men receive, but as is expected. Lots of watching and playing soccer this weekend, as it should be for two soccer players who are dating 🙂 Just for fun, here’s my first EVER Rose & Thorn post! Apparently I missed a few Mondays, because one year…

    WIAW – Eating > Running

First things first! Since I know the entire blogging and social media world are ablaze with it being National Running Day, I better get that out of the way. So here is my celebratory obligatory reason for this day! Pardon the snark, running just hasn’t been my thing lately, so I’m not too excited. I’ve made J promise we will log miles tonight, since we didn’t this AM (got home too late from the SF Giants game to get up extra early)! Not much has changed since last year’s celebration! So there you have. I run for a plethora of reasons, but mostly to balance out what I eat. The…

4th Annual Girls Hiking Weekend! Rose: An overwhelming feeling of peace at Cascade Falls! Thorn: Losing $20 in less than 30 seconds during my first Black Jack experience! It all started with Yosemite and Half Dome, and we haven’t looked back. This year makes it our 4th #AnnualGirlsHikingWeekend with the same-ish group of women, we seem to add more each year. You can peep last year’s trip right here. Each year brings new adventures and craziness, but our friendship, laughs, and happiness are always a constant! Friday Of course I didn’t pack, I’m so bad at this lately. I left work a little early to go home, change, and pack…

It was all about the Momma’s…Momma’s…Momma’s…. Rose: Mother’s Day! I love my Momma! Thorn: The most poorly run Race for the Cure in Sacramento, what a disappointment! I’m really keeping it short this week, like really! Friday Right after work I went straight to the mall to pick up our packets for the Race for the Cure, however, it wasn’t at the mall. But, I didn’t really care because the Guidette was meeting me there for coffee and shopping (re: 10,000 returns for her). I took her on her first trip to Lulu, it was amazing…she’s forever changed. Shopping is my cardio, iced coffee is my fuel! A little lulu…

Great weekends, start off great weeks! Rose: First ever Annual Ganeeban Crab Feed and the Guidette’s bday (again)! Thorn: Realizing my calf is worse than I thought and that Manong Manny lost the fight! In an attempt to keep it short, I’m sure it will still be wordy and annoying. We glorified busy this weekend, but with L with us, it never feels that way! Friday Folsom and a cute little girl were calling our name right after work. We made our way out there, swooped up L, and then went to grab dinner. We didn’t have too much time, since we had the Guidette’s bday to celebrate that evening.…

I’m Yessss, it’s Monday! Marathon Monday, deserves a quick shout out! Rose: Family and friends, por vida! Thorn: Nothing really at all…does a stiff right ankle, that’s been annoying, count? Yup, you read that right. This week is going to be the BEST ever. Only three days of working and two fun events that I am so giddy, giddy gum drop excited for! Friday Off to go pick up our fave little girl, we didn’t have many plans. We did have to run a few errands for the weekend birthday parties we were attending, so we did that to kill a little time in Folsom. I was having a serious…

Happy Monday. – No one ever Rose: Celebrating two birthdays and a fun little 5 miler race! Thorn: Sore. Sore. Sore! As always, a weekend that flew by with tons of fun in between. In the event of keeping it short, here goes an attempt. Friday I’m not used to Friday night plans, so when Tanna invited us to her birthday I was happy to oblige. We all met up at Strings Italian Kitchen, in my old stomping grounds, for dinner. They all were going to go skating afterwards, but we had a long weekend ahead of us and decided to skip that part of the evening. I hadn’t eaten…

A full heart..and belly! Rose: An entire weekend with my family! Thorn: Relationship stuff with. I had no idea this weekend would so wonderful. I was able to spend the whole weekend with my immediate family and our little family. We definitely kept ourselves busy all weekend, out and about, but it was time well spent with those that I love. The high and low of this weekend was extreme, but feel renewed today with a full heart.   This has the potential to put you to sleep with its length, feel free to just skip the text and look at the pics 😉 Friday I was really hoping we’d…

Before I can go any further, I NEED to wish… HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPPA BEAR!  Okay, back to the regularly scheduled program… The From bad to good! Rose: A full weekend of FUNstivities Thorn: Not knowing if I’m actually sick or if allergies are kicking my ass! This was one of those weekends where everything just fell into place. There were things to do, but nothing felt rushed or forced. Besides my onset of allergies, snot, and nasty cough, all was well! Friday I tried to stick out the full day at work, but I’d been feeling miserable since Thursday and it was only getting worse. So after lunch, I finished…
