Race Recap: Sacramento Giant Race, 5k

Same race, same sissy’s, different year. I’ve been putting off writing this recap because honestly, it’s going to be basically the same as the ones I’ve written before 2018, 2017, and 2016. Well, besides the inaugural race (2016), they are pretty much the same. This year they updated the course slightly, which I’ll go over later. Other than that, it was business as usual for our hometown race under the Giants race series. Oh, one thing to note is that after three years they finally updated the race title to fit within the Giant race series a little more cohesively. It is no longer called the Riverfront race. I guess…

Musings: More Than Just the BOOs

But BOOs is also pretty awesome too! The distraction of international travel didn’t really leave much mental space for Halloween thoughts. I had less than two days + jetlag to get my act together and get into the ghouly spirit. I anticipated not actually caring since the last four Halloweens were dedicated to someone else(s), but I actually felt like I should and kinda wanted to too. Work is ALL about Halloween. It seems to have stemmed from a previous CEO, but don’t quote me on that. People take it seriously around here. Emails more than a month prior go out about the decor and theme. And you thought I was…

Race Recap: Giant Race Riverfront 5k

Only running for my beloved G-Men! I haven’t run, really run, in probably six months or so. I don’t count the soccer field, because that is a different type of running. It’s not continuous, even though it kicks my ass. My rule this year was to only run any or all of the Giant Race series. I may have changed this a bit, but there won’t be too many races in my 2017 future. I still can’t get over how the SF Giants AAA team is right in my backyard. As if that wasn’t awesome enough, they added a race to support my favorite team. No brainer, obviously. Last year…

    Race Recap – Credit Union Sactown10 – 5 Mile

New distance, new course… Sactown10 Back in December 2014, post CIM race, the Sacramento Running Association (SRA) offered a discounted rate of $26.20 for their fifth annual Sactown 10 Miler. You see what they did there 😉  So, being overzealous and somewhat eagerly training for Napa, I signed both J and myself up for the race. However, at that time I did not take into consideration that we’d be in the middle of both of our soccer seasons. Come to find out, on Thursday (before our Sunday race) I realized the time conflict. If we were to do the 10-mile race we’d be late to J’s game and I would…
