City Girl Hikes: Alamere Falls – Bolinas, CA

This City girl seeks nature from time to time! Since we haven’t done a hike since last summer AND we finally had a free weekend with nothing on the calendar, I told J we were hiking! HAHA! Well, I really said I needed a hike in my life. He obliged and we asked our friends Melanie & Alex to join us, as they had for last summers hike! We almost canceled the hike with Outside Lands and the freeway repair, we thought the freeway would be a mess. Just to get to the hike is a little over two hours. Add traffic and we’d be stuck in the car all…

    Co-Dependency

Comes in all forms. Via The Lent struggle has been real. I’m sure most people reserve codependency for another human or humans. In my case, my enabler is also actual culprit – the foods that enable me to a lesser woman. I am not mocking this word or situation, in the slightest. Just to see if I was using the word correctly, I went to the Intranets and went to the all know-er source of Wikipedia for the following definition: Codependency: Codependent relationships are a type of dysfunctional helping relationship where one person supports or enables another person’s addiction, poor mental health, immaturity, irresponsibility, or under-achievement. Just as a refresher, since it was…

    Lenten Season

Trust me, I’m the farthest from the ‘religious type’. It’s just not something I chose to talk about very often or on the blog. The Lenten season is probably the only time I’ll talk about religion here. This might even be the first time I’ve actually dedicated a post to it. I’m sure I’ve spoken about it passing, but not actually wrote my feelings and thoughts down. I’m slightly embarrassed because I was not raised going to a specific church, on a regular basis. I did attend the occasional Mass with my Grandma. Sadly, at that age, the idea of spending the night at Grandma’s and fast food after church…

    I Don’t Believe…

I think I’m the only person who doesn’t believe in Karma. Yes, you read that correctly! So as I started to write this, I decided I’d look up the definition (thanks trusty ‘ol Wikipedia): Karma (Sanskrit: कर्म[1] IPA: [ˈkarmə] ( listen); Pali: kamma) is the concept of “action” or “deed”, understood as that which causes the entire cycle of cause and effect (i.e., the cycle called saṃsāra). Originating in Bharata Khanda also known as Ancient India and originally used in “Sanātana Dharma“, and later religions such as Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism,[2] Taoism,[3] Shintoism and others. So if I look at this specific definition, I don’t mind the idea of Karma as much. Solely, because…

    TMI: The Beet Edition

I don’t do acronyms!   But TMI just works so well. So here is my disclaimer, you might want to stop reading this, because we might get really personal here for a quick second.   I’ve come to realize that beets are polarizing. Among other things that are polarizing, people either love it OR hate it!   Growing up, I ate them. I ate them because my Mom ate them. I didn’t think twice about it. I didn’t dislike the flavor and when you use it in a salad with ranch dressing, your salad magically turns pink (girly, yes)! Poppa Bear hates them, but I’d taken to my Mom’s affinity…

    Buck Furpees

There’s really nothing more that I despise, than a damn burpee.    According to this credible source 😉 Burpee by Wikipedia I can put all the blame on a Mr. Royal H. Burpee. So vain, he names the damn things after himself. I don’t care if its the traditional version or some variant, I hate these things. When they are on the board for my workouts at Midtown, I contemplate faking a stomach ache and leaving. About six months ago I came up with the worst idea ever – subject myself to doing 50 of them if I eat chips/fries in one day. It seems like I’m always owing some. It was started as…
