    Musings: The Elusive Black Badge

Wait…you don’t know what I’m talking about?!? Badge, not the card! Does anyone even care about the AMEX black card anymore, anyways? I digress. I’ve been Yelping for N I N E years! Holy shit! That is a lot of time writing reviews. Anything from Khol’s to the newest restaurant to pop up in Sacramento. Yes, you read that correctly. I’ve Yelped Khol’s, among a slew of other things. At the end of each year, I nominate myself for another year of Yelp elitness. Yes, Yelp allows and encourages you to nominate yourself each year. And so I do, with no shame. To think, this all started as a bet…

    Musings: Week Day Pampering

Along with cinnamon rolls as appetizers, I’m petitioning for week day pampering! via Pinterest Week days are not just for work, dinner, working out, and carting kids to soccer practice. Seriously, pampering ourselves on a week day should be something we all do, men and women. I have a feeling most of us wait until the weekend to try and fit it into our schedule on top of everything else, but scheduling some personal pampering time is a must. I think at times we try not to be selfish and do this, especially if we have families. However, ‘self-care is a divine responsibility!’ And don’t confuse taking time for the…

Race Recap: The Giant Race 10k

The Giants may be having an AWFUL year, but their racing series is NOT! Ahh, to be so happy to run and support your team who is having the worst season (possibly) ever is humbling! Regardless of their current league standing, thousands flocked to San Francisco this weekend to show their support. Putting one foot in front of another for 3.1 miles, 6.2 miles, or 13.1 miles, we showed our spirit and love for our FAVORITE team! Lil and I committed to being Triple Baggers this year, which means we ran the Rivercats 5k, San Jose Giants 5 miler, and we finished it with the SF Giant Race 10k. These…

City Girl Hikes: Alamere Falls – Bolinas, CA

This City girl seeks nature from time to time! Since we haven’t done a hike since last summer AND we finally had a free weekend with nothing on the calendar, I told J we were hiking! HAHA! Well, I really said I needed a hike in my life. He obliged and we asked our friends Melanie & Alex to join us, as they had for last summers hike! We almost canceled the hike with Outside Lands and the freeway repair, we thought the freeway would be a mess. Just to get to the hike is a little over two hours. Add traffic and we’d be stuck in the car all…

    Musings: Lunchin’ in Sausalito

I wasn’t going to plan anything this year… I was going to let our Monterey trip be any type of birthday celebration I’d have be it, this year. But then I figured why not? Why not see if anyone is available to do something different? Clubbing birthdays were our early 20’s. Wine tasting was our late 20’s. Let’s dayscape to Sausalito for lunch with the girls! So, I sent out a quick email to see who could make it. Knowing most probably wouldn’t want to drive somewhere for two hours for lunch, I knew the turnout would be low. I was okay with that. I just wanted to something different…

Musings: The (VRBO Owner) Crazy Continues…

I told you… I told you she was crazy. I wrote Musings: VRBO (Rental #318895) Gone Wrong and then filed a formal complaint to VRBO. A day and a half later I received a message and a ‘compliment’ on Yelp. Take a peek… A ‘compliment’ she sent me, which I approved! Her crazy can be seen by the world! Direct message sent to me via Yelp. I couldn’t stop laughing after I read these empty threats. The lack of proper grammar and punctuation would lead me to believe she is not very educated. If she even attempts to contact my employer, she will never hear the end of anything from…

A Christmas Adventure – The San Diego Zoo

Always say yes to adventures… …especially when they involve anything in San Diego! If you read yesterday’s post, then you already know our Christmas adventure found us in San Diego! Well, if you know anything about San Diego, most people know it’s the home of an awesome Zoo and Safari Park.  Thanks to J’s Mom we purchased 2-day passes at a discount, which was a perfect baller-on-a-budget way to make adventure what it was! This pass allows you to go to either park on each of the two days, in an combination you’d prefer. We chose to do one day at each park. This was also the exact reason our…

City Girl Hikes: Lake Clementine Trail – Auburn, CA

Kinda like a staycation… …but, NOT! I thought I had more posts specific about various hikes, but I guess I don’t. But I’m adding to my series I’ve dubbed “City Girl Hikes”: City Girl Hikes: Mission Peak – Fremont, CA Auburn is only a short 30 to 45 minute drive from probably anywhere in Sacramento. So, it makes for a great place to get outdoors and have some fun. Mostly Auburn has been synonymous with trail running for me. Many races in the hard hills of Auburn, CA have been raced, but never hiked (even though it felt like that during most races). I knew it had plenty of trails,…

    A Day in the City

Are DAYcations still a thing? Or is that an old term? Anyway, us lucky Sacramentans can basically go in any direction for about an hour and half (give or take fifteen minutes, not including traffic) and find ourselves in a place that is completely opposite of Sacramento.  A free Sunday, barely ever happens. My craving for Vitamin Sea is forever there, so when there was NOTHING on the calendar we took advantage of it. We thought maybe we forgot about something, but alas we didn’t. No soccer. No baby shower. No bridal shower. No birthday. No wedding. Nada, just a day of J and I exploring and spending time being…

    Menage A LeTote

Third times a charm… Right?! Seems to be so with my latest LeTote. I guess someone was listening when I told them to fix their summer algorithm, because I received more summer options. I did however have to sub out one time, they wanted to send me a scarf again. I switched it out for a handbag. So again, I haven’t fully accepted any tote they’ve sent me, but that’s okay. I’m still wearing ‘gently shared’ clothing and that’s a big step for me. In case you are wondering about the other totes, you can read about Tote One and Tote Two if you’d like! Tote three gave me some…
