    Musings: Nourish

A full day of wellness you say… Sure, sign me up. Thanks to Erica, of Fit Crawl, I was gifted a ticket for myself and Ambriss to attend the inaugural Nourish wellness event in Sacramento, CA. Two women, Amber Rosen & Sarah Stebbins, created Nourish to ‘…empower you with the knowledge and tools to support your wellbeing on a consistent, daily basis.’ From what I remember from the event, they met less than a year ago, where the idea for Nourish was started. Since then, they’ve developed a wellness brand that is based on the elements of her: body soul wealth community You already know I’m a little snarky, even…

    City Girl Does Cancún

It all started with a letter… …and continues with a beautiful and very memorable wedding on the beach of Cancún. Not, not my love story. HAHA! But the dreamiest of stories of the Wench meeting, falling in love and marrying Hotlanta in a whirlwind long-ish weekend in Mexico surrounded by love, family, and friends. I absolutely love the idea of a destination wedding. I love even more when friends decide that is how their wedding will go down. #LivinLaVidaThornton! We’ve been anticipating this trip for over a year and the calendar date finally met reality. There was definitely a little somewhat last minute rearranging I had to do since my plus…

    Musings: The Four Agreements

Some friends are spirits who you need in your life… …you just didn’t know it, until something magical happens. I was lucky to met Mel many decades ago, when her son and my Lovebug met in elementary school. Over the years, our friendship has slowly blossomed. I admire her for so many reasons, but her spirituality and openness has been something that is very inspiring. Recently, she posted ‘The Four Agreements’ and I needed to be scrolling through my FB feed at that exact moment to read them. I’ve been feeling a little lost a lot lately — maybe a pre-mid life crisis, maybe just life. Her post spoke to…

    Strong is the new skinny!

Nothing taste as good as skinny does. Whoever said that, is correct for the most part. But at what point to you sacrifice your life, your passion, your soul to be skinny. I’ll never be what society deems skinny, but I’m okay with that. I don’t even think I’ll ever be comfortable calling myself skinny, even if I can get into a size 2. I want to be strong and healthy. If being skinny-ish is a side effect, then so be it. I see actual skinny girls, literally skin and bones, and I’m grossed out. I see fitness models and body builders and I’m grossed out. I just want to…

    Musings: My Spade

Just calling a Spade a Spade! Yes, I’m 32 and still get zits. Yes, I use filters and apps. We see each others faces via social media, more than we probably see most in person. So, when people call out other people for using filters or apps, I just laugh. Yes, I’m guilty. I use them from time to time all the time. I just think it’s silly that we even care about what others are doing. We all want to put our best foot forward, I’m guessing. So yes, I’ll filter something to make my skin look better. We all have our thresholds of how far we will alter…

    Musings: Yoga for a Non-Yogi

The (Yogi) struggle is real! Via Just like anything good for you…it’s hard, but worth it…right?! I fell in love with Bikram yoga over ten years ago. Then I stopped going. I tried it again about four years ago and hated it. In between that large time gap, I took a few classes, here and there, at 24 hour and various places – just basic yoga. I know it’s benefits and that it’s good for someone who lifts and runs, but I find it hard to get my booty to a class. Even more harder to invest monies into a membership at a yoga studio, let alone a drop-in rate.…

    Rose & Thorn [46]

I’m Yessss, it’s Monday! Marathon Monday, deserves a quick shout out! Rose: Family and friends, por vida! Thorn: Nothing really at all…does a stiff right ankle, that’s been annoying, count? Yup, you read that right. This week is going to be the BEST ever. Only three days of working and two fun events that I am so giddy, giddy gum drop excited for! Friday Off to go pick up our fave little girl, we didn’t have many plans. We did have to run a few errands for the weekend birthday parties we were attending, so we did that to kill a little time in Folsom. I was having a serious…

    2015: The Game Plan

Well, f@%k, I don’t really have one… Celfie, just because I didn’t have much else to add… But, as I sit here today, Tuesday, January 27th I feel like I might need to start one. I’m a 31 year old woman, functioning perfectly (adequately might be a better word) in my life, steady income, training for a marathon, living with my boyfriend and his daughter (part-time)…but something still feels off. I have found the balance of things that make me happy and doing things with our new little family, but I still feel slightly lost. I feel as though I don’t have anything passionate I can talk about. You know…

Five Things Friday – No More Hiatus

Five R-A-N-D-O-M things floating around this brain of mine today… Thanks, Clare! 5. Bacon Week // It has been all week and I finally took advantage of it, two days in a row, I might add. I will not spoil my next WIAW post with showing you what I ate. Just know that it was all pretty much as amazing as you would imagine. Even a dessert with bacon. Bacon and ice cream, two things I didn’t think I’d enjoy together, found a way into my heart this week! I’m sure I’ll have a bacon hangover soon, but for now I’m on a mission to consume copious amounts of that…

    Thinking Out Loud…Literally

Thinking…sometimes it’s a little rough 😉  Amanda at .RUNNING WITH SPOONS. Busy week, outside of my work hours. Every day is something and will be until Sunday. I know I am the culprit of this, I can say no to things/events, but I think I thrive on a jam packed schedule. I’m not the best “home body,” even though I can be at times. I’m much more efficient when things need to be fit in, in certain time frames. If you give me tons of time to do it, I generally still wait until the last minute. Rant over :/ Haha! Yoga – I’ve been saying I want to do…
